I haven't read Pale Fire, but this seems like an admirable imitation. It's a bit too silly sometimes, but I don't think I've been more entertained by a novel in a long time.

An absolutely stunning collection of every Pullitzer Prize winning photograph since the award has been given, along with commentary by each photographer involved in the picture. Harrowing, frightful, saddening, and uplifting all in one beautiful package.

An incredible work of historic fiction. I loved the prose and the entire novel was believable. ( I saw the author in lecture, so I am aware of the depth of her research for this novel). My experience with Hemmingway and his history is limited, much in small passing conversations of his personality rather than his talent as an author. I can't help but think what a prig he really was, an of course, incredibly troubled. This is a great pick for book club and an English course read too.

I just finished this, it's really exciting if you like spy kind of books. The plot isn't that complicated though, it's not one of THOSE spy books.
I was really looking forward to a great biography on a 20th century physicist. This wasn't it. Too much politics, not enough science history.

This is the first book in an entire series devoted to telling the story of Patty Fairfield, a girl in the early 1900s. These books were passed from my grandmother to my mother and now to me and so I enjoy them more for their sentimental value than the actual stories. If you are looking for a fluffly and light read about a well-off girl, who spends a year living with four different sets of relatives, and whose life is parties, dances, carnivals, and the like then you should pick up any book in the Patty Fairfield series.

Quirky and charming, part fairytale part fable, Tiny Wife is a delightful story. The robber walks into a bank but instead of stealing money he takes the item most important to each person he also leaves with a part of their soul and the behest to to learn how to grow it back. David's wife, Stacey, was in the bank and is now shrinking and they must look into themselves and their marriage before she completely disappears.

Mmm, modern gothic. Tasty, tasty literature. When I finished this book, I sat still in a warm, mellow glow for 3 whole minutes...then they made me get off the bus. Even so, reading The Thirteenth Tale left me with a light head and a pitcherful of happy soul to sip from. The ending is very American--all the separate plot lines get wrapped up with neatly-tied little bows on top. At first I was a bit disappointed with this, but quickly realized it was extremely in-character for the narrator to do so. The Thirteenth Tale isn't just a book for fans of gothic romance; it is a book about missing tales and endings and the frustrations of an unfinished story. Throughout the entire book the importance of a tidy ending is subtly thwacked into your head in a myriad of ways, also highlighting the very human need for closure and truth. We go to great lengths for these things, but in the end: does it matter? Extremely paraphrased from the book: There is comfort in tall tales, more than the truth will ever give you. When it's a dark and stormy night and something is jiggling the window pane, you don't want to get up and find out that it is a monster strugglign for entry or strange man come to rob you. A story will do, especially a pleasant stand-by such as "it's just the wind."
İnsanın Tanrı ile ilişkisi ve Tanrı'nın insanla ilişkisi hakkında düşündürücü bir okumaydı. Hayatım hakkında düşünmeme neden olduğunu buldum.
