I've decided that even though I didn't like the whole twist thing, I really do like these books. She's a good author and the story if very unique. I can't wait to read the next one.

It was okay, but not as funny as I had hoped. Maybe the narrator didn't do it justice. Or maybe I just had high hopes for a riotously funny book from Mac Barnett and it fell short. Not bad, just not as funny as I had hoped...
I finished the book with a big Huh??I'm not sure how I feel about this book but I sure didn't enjoy it like I did the previous books. I couldn't get into the story so I ended up skimming through it. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood so to be fair I won't rate it. I reread D&C last night. I would settle it for 3 stars. I wanted to rate it higher but the storyline was lacking, Ty & Zane kept running in circles (I thought after 3 books, their relationship would have improved especially after F&C), I couldn't see the importance of adding in some characters and Ty, even without the 3 little words, it's obvious that Zane loved you and not to mention his characters had kind of deviated from the Ty I read in the last books. But Zane, you're adorable & really cool ok?? :) ~edited Oct,16~
Reading some other comments I see I'm not the only one that's having problems with this series. I wanted to really like it but I find that Lora leighs books are now all interchangeable. The characters the dialogue the silly terms of endearments the sex scenes. Nothing new or interesting. Esp the "I really want you but I can't be with you". The women are often frustrating also bc their passion is stronger then their dignity or common sense. I took a break from the last book to this one hoping that it would help but it didn't. I'm truly hoping for something different with live wire but not holding my breath.

"How much we have yet to learn." Jane Goodall now joins Dostoyevsky, Wharton, and Wouk as authors whose books I have attempted, abandoned, returned to, completed, and treasured. Through a Window is the history of a family. It spans 30 years in a chimpanzee community inhabiting the Gombe wilderness of Tanzania. With Jane Goodall as our guide, we are introduced to a group of individuals with personalities and life stories as distinctive as those of any human. There's Gilka, an outgoing and playful youngster who grows up into an unlucky, crippled outcast. There's Jomeo, physically imposing but uninterested in using that strength to climb the social ladder. There's Flo, the skillful matriarch whose influence can be seen in her descendants long after she leaves the world. Through the interactions of these and many other members of the Gombe tribe, we can observe inklings of practices that are sometimes regarded as human inventions, including war, monogamy, and adoption. On the subject of humans, the beginning and end of the book address the rocky relationship between our species and the chimpanzees, from the scientific community's early pushback against the idea of chimps having emotions, to ongoing abuse of these animals for the sake of research and entertainment. As devastating as these issues are, Goodall also gives voice to the many people working to preserve habitats for chimps in the wild, as well as those making existence more bearable for chimps in captivity. Goodall's writing is sharp and descriptive, and I admire her ability to integrate and transition between the different topics covered in this book. She immerses us in the beauty, the horror, and the mystery of the lives of our closest living relatives.
Meh, it's too preachy...

This is a gruesome tale. It is an excellent book and a good read. I approve. You need a strong stomache to read it though.
