I stopped reading horror fiction, but this book I am glad I read when I used to read a lot of King. Great book about the battle between good and evil. The ABC drama series was good as well (even though today it is a bit outdated). I recommend the book.

This is a classic must-read to have in your repertoire. I had trouble identifying with the narrator and his anger. It made me quite sad, actually, and I had trouble finishing it.

Blind, uncontrollable obsession haunts this book, but the bondage within is not the modern S&M connotations of the word- it is something much deeper and more sinister, a part of daily life.

Although it was challenging for me to relate to the character, the author definitely creates a well-constructed reality that'll keep you reading.

Great adventure stories, I remember loving this as a kid, and coming back to it as an adult I still enjoyed it all very much. However, with the critical eye of an adult, I also saw the manipulation into 'family values' and worse - religious subtext which was almost missionary, especially in the later books and ending with a 'revelation' in the last scenes. Disappointing, considering how great the series starts.

The Cathedral of the Sea is basically a novelized history of Barcelona during the time the cathedral was built, and the attempt to turn a historical account into a novel sometimes felt a little heavy-handed... Full review: http://secretshelflife.blogspot.com/2...

Loved this book when I first read it in the 90s. Taking it out for a spin again to see if my perspective on it will have changed.

Beautiful writing. Edwards has an amazing way of describing feelings/scenery/movement, particularly during the first third of the novel. One main criticism: I wish you learned more about David and the denouement should have included a chapter from the perspective of Rosemary. And I have to say, although I have never had children/been pregnant, I thought Norah's obession with Phoebe was a bit too much.

Better than the second book if for nothing else than for defeating the Mule who I really hated. It was frustrating at the very end with how it played out but I still enjoyed the search for the second foundation. Asimov manages to throw a curveball in the identity of the location of the second foundation, which by the way doesn't make sense after reading the two prequels because when Hari Seldon's granddaughter leaves to carry out the founding of the second foundation Hari Seldon lives on Trantor ... which is where the second foundation really exists. Oops. Still, besides an obvious flaw it's an enjoyable read and ends the first Foundation trilogy.
