This is an updated and revised edition of Paco's original book that was released in 1997. Paco Underhill is the owner of Envirosell; a company that studies the buying habits of consumers and advises companies how to take advantage of these buying habits. I was interested in the book as a consumer because it gave me insight into why certain items catch my eye, why some items do not, and what I may base my decision on buying an item. It is also interesting from the standpoint of the company. How do you display an item, where do you display an item, do you put an item on the top shelf or the bottom shelf, and the list goes on. Some interesting facts include the "butt-brush" factor. If a woman is in a narrow aisle and is looking at an item and someone brushes her, more than likely she will move away from the area and not make a purchase. Although most women preferred "No Nonsense" pantyhose. L'eggs became the best seller because of the packaging. The were put in plastic eggs. A man wants to get in and out of a store in the shortest amount of time possible, therefor, if you know a product that men are continually buying the best position for it in the store will be upfront and visible. In this updated version of this book, Paco puts more emphasis on Global Economics and Internet Shopping since there has been drastic changes in these media since the book was originally published. This is a very interesting read and the reader, if they choose not to read the entire book, can easily pick the chapters that will be the most interesting to them.
