An interesting book - I have to say it's different from anything else I've read. It has elements of mystery, humor and romance (although not your typical romantic novel escapades by a longshot). It took a while for me to get into, but once I did, I enjoyed it.

I liked this way more than Maze Runner, which is always weird because usually I'm a HUGE fan of the 1st book and not so much of the 2nd. But then again I loved Catching Fire more than Hunger Games. I'm glad it didn't take to long to get into the action this time. Looking forward to the 3rd book, The Death Cure!
I really enjoyed this book and I think part of that had to do with the genre. By telling the story as a screenplay that Steve Harmon, the main character, was writing, the authro leads readers into the mind of Steve, but in a way that is much different than first person narration would have been. It was a quick read and a book that I would like to read again. This book would be very helpful to teachers. I think Monster would be a great tool to use to teach students how to read a play or screenplay. The genre causes students to read differently and infer much more than we have to in a typical novel. I would have appreciated a teacher taking the time to work with us on reading plays before throwing us into Shakespeare's plays. It would be hard to get the book approved becasue of some of the events that occur in the prison, but if it is possible to teach, I believe students would be better eqipped to get into Shakespeare.

Ahhhh.......i truly wanted to like this book but it fell way to short! Thought it was so ridiculous about her being tricked to get on a motorcycle with a demon. Cmon now! A bit far-fetched!!!!
A sophomore in high school, the pretty and popular Martha Abbott is worlds different from who she used to be: A shy, chubby outcast known to her family as Marty Mouse, a little girl who cried often and who used books and daydreams to escape from the reality of the world around her. Back then, the only person who truly understood Martha was Ivy Carson, the second-youngest daughter of a large, low-income family from the other side of town. The Carsons have earned themselves quite a bad reputation (Mrs. Carson is an alcoholic, Mr. Carson is a debtor, and several of the older carson children have been busted for various criminal activities), but Ivy is different. Even though Martha's upper-class family doesn't exactly approve, Martha and Ivy become friends...and this friendship is the only thing that gets Martha through those difficult growing-up years. Then comes the day Ivy and her family vanishes without warning, without a trace. But her friendship with Ivy strengthened Martha more than she knew and she is able to finally crawl out of her mousehole, put aside the daydreams that once consumed her, and live in the real world. She has learned to live without Ivy in her life. But now, when Martha is a sophomore, she gets word that the Carson family has returned to the area...and Martha is worried: Now that she's so different (both inwardly and outwardly) than she was last time she and Ivy talked, can the two girls still be friends? Is there even a place for Ivy in Martha's life now?
This book contains insightful, brilliant, coherent and reasonable ideas and facts. Many are obvious to an educated person but do not suffer from being pointed out anyway. As a consequence, it is reviled by religious people and those who are still programmed to recoil at the idea of atheism. Reviewers who complain that Dawkins doesn't know enough about theology fail to realize that Dawkins isn't interested in nitpicking the 5000 year old folktales of Jewish sheperds. Dawkins just wants to bring some facts to the attention of the flat earth society. Dawkins is a scholar, a fine scientist and a very courageous human being. I wish I had the guts to defend the facts the way he does. Read it on Sunday. Read it on Easter. Read it from the pulpit. Just read it.
I have to admit I am not particularly fond of this children's rhyme because its repeating line "Perhaps she'll die". So I only gave it three stars. But the illustrations are cute. And of course afterwards, my son asked me if we'd die if we ate a horse, and I had to tell him, well, it wouldn't be good for you to eat a whole horse, but the book was just joking.

It had its moments. I would have liked it more if the author would have just stuck to the 1600's story.
The funniest punctuation and grammar book you'll ever read!!! I'm constantly afraid of boo-boos as a result. I appreciate her appreciation, and can stand even less to be exposed to anything involving the movie Two Weeks' Notice.
