So cute. I get a little frustrated at Emily Giffin's characters and their stupid mistakes and how long it takes to fix them, but I guess there wouldn't really be a book without that, eh??
Ongoing saga of a half-faery. I think this series would be far better if it was in color. Also I noticed some continuity problems (coatless in one frame, coatful in the next). But I like the edge mixed with fae elements of this series. Reading the two volumes far apart didn't work so well for me, but I enjoy looking at the lush illustrations.
The main character is a red herring, which is a shame because the plot is quite good, and the writing top notch, but that's why it gets 2 stars. See my review here: http://trebro.livejournal.com/263439....

Very powerful storytelling. Maybe not the best book for those new to the movement. I learned a lot.

A fantastic book of tons of short comic strips. Gary Larson has created both a classic and a standard in my eyes. This book proves nothing is as it seems.

My favorite Dashiell Hammett novel. It has a great plot, probably the most complicated mystery story I've ever read. It makes one feel dirty after reading it because the imagery is so vivid.

EHHHHHH This was not that great. The magical realism stuff annoys me and the fact that one of the characters, Nandini, made Ghandi laugh and made a comment to Virginia Wolfe to drowned herself was too far-fetched. All the weird "erotic" scenes were obnoxious.

I will forever maintain that Sandman is the best comic ever written. Gaiman was originally given the task of resurrecting a not particularly interesting golden age DC superhero, and instead, managed to change comics forever. He created the Endless- Destiny, Death, Destruction, Dream, Desire, Despair, and Delirium (who used to be delight), created a whole new mythology based on so many sources- Greek/Roman/Egyptian/Norse mythology, fairy tales, fables, DC comic book characters, and of course, Gaiman's own brilliant, twisted psyche. Even if you don't think you like comic books, you should read the Sandman books. They are not like any "comic" you have ever read before, and Gaiman is a true genius. The further along in the series you get, the better it gets. Not to be missed.
