Really a 4.5. I like this book. Wish I had it when my child was younger and we cooked every night. Each recipe has a photograph of the end result. The ingredients lists are short, and the ingredients are fresh and carried by most grocery stores. I especially like the Sides chapter as I tend to make the same side dishes over and over. It would be a nice resource for those stuck times. I would recommend this book for cooks who want something fresh and fast for their families. I also recommend it for new cooks who are just learning and experimenting as they could have success with these recipes. I am considering adding to my bookself, too!

I recall being utterly bored by this book. However, I am willing to revisit it again and see if the story has gotten any better as I hopefully have matured.

What I learned from this book...Turkey is swell if you like donerkabobs and chicken adana and as long as you're not Kurdish or Armenian. I kid, I kid...kind of. Great survey of modern Turkey. Also check out his biography of Ataturk.

My biggest complaint about this is mostly stylistic: for someone who's supposedly a journalist, this guy has horrible journalistic style. He constantly switches around the names that he refers to people by - at different times calling someone by their first name, last name, or nickname. So, it's very easy to get confused about who's he's talking about when he's referring to one person by three different names. Style aside, this is a great book. It gives a lot of insight into hip-hop, in terms of where it sprouted from, and some of the behind the scenes pioneers, and does a thorough job of explaining some of the genre's more negative aspects and reputations. In the process, you learn a lot about the economic situation of the people involved, and where some of the other aspects of the hip hop generation sprouted from, such as gangs, graffiti, break-dancing, etc. I wish there was a little bit more in it that was current, but I'm sure that it took a lot of time for him to work on this, so when he wrote it, it probably was still pretty recent. And it could also be his own way of turning up a nose to more recent artists/forms of rap. There was a lot more historical and societal information than I had anticipated, so occasionally I got a little overloaded on facts and had to sort of take breathers from it every once and awhile so that I wouldn't forget everything or get overwhelmed. This is definitely a must for anyone who likes hip-hop or an aspect of the culture, and even those who are the genre's greatest detractors. People who reduce rap to being about violence, money and objectifying women might find themselves surprised a) to see that rap is much, much more than that, and b) to see why and how it got that nasty reputation.

Lan is a gambler and a gunsman of the late nineteen century. He begin to regret his lonely life and for his bad luck he involuntarly kills the wrong man, the brother of a marshal that now wants to kill him in return. During his flight he stumbles accross a silver mine and also some strange orange stones. And soon after he falls sick and a stranger, a beautiful Apache named Dark, takes care of him. And just when he begins to stay better Dark makes love to him, and tells him he is his mate and that he will change in a wolf during the first full moon. What can a man do? Take the ride of his life of course. A very short but interesting story by Kate Steele: I can't really build a strong impression of the characters. I'd like to read more, we have only some hint at the character of Dark, I think he deserves better: but maybe, this is only the first enstallment of a series and in the following chapter we will have the chance to know better both Lan than Dark. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/10...
