So, from past reviews, it may seem that I think Stephen King can do no wrong (the lit majors among you are probaby shuddering in horror, no pun intended). I love most of his books (cf. Cell) and actually think he is a very good writer - his character development is fab, and his stories are compelling, exciting, and usually have some actual symbolism (though some may be a bit too gruesome for the average bear). This is one of his best. If you decide to embark on this journey, make sure to pick up the unabridged version - I have read both, and it's best to absorb it all at once. This is an apocalyptic story of good and evil - survivors struggling to make it. Highly recommended.

Saya baca novel hafalan sholat delisa edisi revisi cetakan ke 7 wlpun katanya saat saya tulis ini sudah beredar cetakan ke 12. Kisah kehidupan keluarga yang harmonis betapa kita dapat memahami makna kehidupan, keikhlasan, ketegaran, cinta dan kasih sayang.... Saya membayangkan Delisa gadis belia, cantik, lucu, ceria dan pintar. Betapa tersentuh hati ini ketika dia ucapkan " Delisa mencinta ummi karena Allah...." dan saya semakin tertarik ketika begitu khusunya Delisa mepraktekan hafalan sholatnya dihadapan gurunya hingga badai tsunami menyambutnya tak mempengaruhi kekhusuannya. Andai Delisa nyata saya ingin menjadi sahabat, teman atau kakak delisa. Delisa tidak sendiri masih banyak sahabat dan saudara menemani kamu !!! Delisa Mau Coklat ???? :)

I'm sure writing this book was a cathartic experience for Lionel Dahmer. I think some of Jeffrey Dahmer's mental unstability came from his mother, although I do feel that he is still responsible for all the lives he took. Lionel Dahmer still stood by his son even after hearing of the terrible, heinous crimes he committed. I suppose a parent's love for their child never leaves. The Dahmer family has suffered as well as the families of those lives Jeffrey took. Mr. & Mrs. Dahmer will carry the knowledge that THEIR son committed these unspeakable acts on other people's children, which I'm sure is difficult to deal with. I also believe that Lionel Dahmer's inattention to his son while he was growing up, somehow contributed to Jeffrey's feeling of isolation and lonliness. Still, he did commit these horrendous crimes and belongs in prison where he is and will remain for the rest of his life. He is still living his life, the Dahmer's still have their son but all those other parent's will never have their children again. Mr. Dahmer was forthcoming in his writing and didn't attempt to hide any of the unpleasantness of his life or that of his families.

I enjoyed this a lot. It really sucked me into the first half of the 20th century in New York, and I checked out all of E.B. White's writings from the library the other day. I read my New Yorkers with more vigor and delight in its long and badass history, helmed by Ross. I always love reading other people's correspondence, so it was also especially great to see life through someone who lived a great deal through his typewriter and dictation and letters and memos. It makes me wonder whether one day we'll have a collection of great authors' emails, or if this type of book is a thing of the past.
