A not very well done shoujo oneshot about a boy who likes taking pictures, who falls for a beautiful but distant high school girl who is in love with someone else. Poor art, poor story, and somewhat confusing.

This is a bit of a cheat, but I'm going to link to a really thorough review by an Amazon user who hit almost all my criticisms and praises of the book, here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RSGFMY8Z...

Chang's research into her own family's history of migration and survival in and outside Communist China is woven into the stories of the migrant workers she meets in Dongguan. I was especially fascinated by the young women she profiles, who are balancing modernization with traditional roles, individualism and self-creation with collectivist loyalty to family and strict class divisions. This was really a great book, not preachy but full of insight.

Die Seeschlachten sind vorbei. Hier geht es mehr um dipomatische Aufträge. Dabei kommt die Beschreibung des Bordlebens und des Segelns nicht zu kurz.
Others have already posted summaries of this book and probably better than mine would be so I will just say that I couldn't stop reading this. The medical parts were not too intimidating and the author told the story of the Lacks family in a way that made me stop and really consider how compensating them for their mother's tissue might have changed the course of events. If you have ever had surgery, this could have been about you and your family because, legally, tissue removed from your body in the course of medical treatment or testing no longer belongs to you -- it belongs to the hospital. I found this out when I had surgery that removed an unusual stone and innocently asked if I could keep it. My doctor told me that it belonged to the hospital and that the pathologist was really looking forward to displaying it at the next medical conference he would attend. My stone had no monetary value but I was still annoyed. I can barely imagine being in the same position as the Lacks family.
Very funny! Full review coming soon.

Edward Said writes books that are very profound, and make you think deep, but are they ever difficult !! When i was reading an article by A. Joffe, and he advocated that all antiquities NOT be returned to their country of origin because these countries were unstable, and their citizens were not able to care for these antiquities, then this was blatant Orientalism. ( See Elgin Marbles, Roman antiquities at Boston Museum etc.)
chuck b. at his finest. this one breaks you.
