I love bad good guys ^.^ Especially ones that not only fight and use guns and knives and hunt terrorists, but are also magician's! And that's what Jack is. A bad-ass magician working for the good guys. Fast paced, exciting and much enjoyment of Jack's sarcastic and cynical sense of humor. Good fun!

Spend half an hour talking to someone in the perfume industry, and you'll know everything this book has to offer. The first chapters sumarize the business quite well, but the author then goes into unnecessary chemical detail, apparently showing off how well he can draw hexagones. The tone of this book is very pretentious and somewhat condescending, which is probably to be expected from a renegade scientist turned perfumer.

What is it that we think we remember? I just finished this novel yesterday; it begged to be read in one sitting (I did it in two) but I want to reread it again, immediately. I'm still mulling over this novel, so more to come.

What a brilliant read! Gaiman has clearly done his homework on the gods and folk heroes of pantheons and cultures all over the world. He weaves a wonderful story of their trials and tribulations, and their contact with each other and mere mortals in present-day America. The book has its dark and violent moments, so I wouldn't recommend it for the extremely faint of heart. I'll definitely be reading this again sometime, there's a lot to digest and I'm sure I'll notice things I missed in the first reading.

had to read for battle of the books, ok.
I think I liked this one better than the first. It's odd, I'm very into the books, but it irks the hell out of me reading through all these books waiting for Anita to just go on that damn date with Jean-Claude! However, all in all, a very good read. Definately leaves me wanting to read more of the series.
Interesting premise: trying to find common experiential, psychological traits among creative types in a variety of fields. Boring execution: typical clinical psycho-babble. I almost finished the book, but my interest trailed off.
Too much personal bio and not enough political, but interesting tale of Churchill’s unremarkable life until he steps into political office.
The essays are uneven in quality -- some more polemic than scholarly. But the highlights are amazing.
