I read the majority while commuting, either on a train or bus, and it surely made my trips faster and much more enjoyable. The imagery and language is incredible, and I often stopped reading to think to myself, "wow, what a great phrase." The story is very character driven with alternating settings of the two main characters, with a few glimpses of their time together. These episodes display the growth and development of the characters dealing with the conclusion of the Civil War in Confederate Appalachia. So many of these events where mesmerizing and will be difficult to forget for years to come. But my favorite thing about this novel, is that it really explores what specific people would be thinking and experiencing during this time period and setting. Nothing that happens seems out of the ordinary. It's realistic and gritty and heartrending. This book is beautifully written and has a little bit of everything. I would recommend it for any lover of literature. Oh, and the movie adaptation is fantastic as well.

From what I hear of Dickens as an author this is straight up his alley. Coincidences, melodrama, and a good moral at the ending. I remember when I read it I was surprised at how quickly it jumped into the rather simple story, but that could be just because I had just finished several longer books. Nothing complicated to this book. I'm not sure if any book has as perfect opening and closing lines.

LOVE TRIUMPHS! by Myrna R. Caudill is an interesting romance/mystery set in present day Ohio. It is well written with depth and details. It has love,romance,faith,trust, murder,supposed threat of werewolves,making decisions,finding peace,family,suspense, unexpected child,unexpected guest( an ex-girlfriend),coming to terms with life, moving on from the past, police, finding and accepting love. This is a wonderful story of unexpected love,with expected consequences(a baby)and in the mix a serial killer.This story is full of suspense and surprises,but the plot and characters are believable,lovable, engaging and yes even make you want to shake someone at times.If you enjoy a good suspense with a bit of romance,drama and the coming together of a great love this is the story for you.It is fast paced and packed full of action.This book was received for the purpose of review from the author and details can be found at Xlibris Corporationa and My Book Addiction and More.
