Recommeded Ages: 3rd - 6th grade Explores the reality of what it really was like being a servant in Victorian England. Very humorous approach, with cartoonish pictures and fun facts.
Why did this book amuse the world? It's entertaining to read, I won't deny that, but it doesn't follow you after you've taken it down.

Jim Morrison was actually not a very nice person. But what a life!

Read the whole thing but didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped...Grisham's development of his characters is rather dry, hard to like any of them. The ending was a disappointment.

Well written, but extremely depressing. Which suited my mood. Sure, none of it would actually happen, but that's why they call it fiction right? Try it out, it may not be something you want to read over and over again, but it's definitely worth a try
this was a well-written and well-crafted book that captures pieces of society that are fascinating and revolting at the same time. i'm glad i read it, but it's not one i'd want to pick up again...

I probably won't write reviews on every single book in this series but I do plan on reading them all! They're just so much fun. L.A. Meyer has basically created a female version of Tom Sawyer in Jacky Faber, so how can you go wrong with that? Sure, some of you readers will be disappointed in the writing style or unable to suspend your disbelief at the exaggerated, sharp wit and intellect Jacky possesses. Too bad for you! If you can't look past some of the technical aspects of the books, you're missing out on some great storytelling and good ol' adventure. I'm halfway through book #3 and still as entertained as when I picked up book #1. On a critical note, there are some innuendos and sexual references (even though the actual act never seems to happen) that are used to move the story along so, even though these are YA books, I probably wouldn't want my 14- or 15-yr-olds reading them.
i love david sedaris. i originally discovered him when i lived in washington and napster was still free (ahhhh... those were the days). i would download sedaris reading his stories and crochet for hours on end; listening to his little lisp and laughing my ass off. so i didn't read any of his books until a year or two later. this is the only book that i hadn't read before, his first book, and it was probably my favorite to read. Naked is great because it gives you a look into the insanity of the sedaris clan. but barrel fever exemplifies what a wonderfully, hilariously creative writer mister sedaris is.
Literally, a book of puns and p.o.ws (play on words). Great!
