Vonda writes with so much passion, you can feel like you are right there in the mist of what’s happening and that’s what drew me to love this book even though I wanted to slap the heroine silly before it was over, but I’ll get back to that in a bit. As most of you know paranormal romance is my forte in reading, I do like historical but they have to hit me right in some areas that I am picky in, this one hits me right in all the right ways , I was very impressed and screaming for more. I really don’t think I have the words that express this story. It was fun, exciting and dangerous with the added right spice between the hero and heroine, it was fantastic. The only downside I found was I wanted to slap Gwyneth silly before it was all over. She was very hard headed and didn’t want to take Alasdair’s advice. He done everything for her and she seemed to want to throw it all aside. So you get some tension between them before its all over. I do feel I need to stress Gwyneth does have her reasons for being like she is with everything she has went through in her life. I loved the fact the heroine is not a virgin and the hero loved his first wife so much so he keeps his pants up unlike his brother in every ladies petticoat LOL. Oh yeah, he is going to be interesting to read. Alasdair and Gwyneth are a great couple they have a lot of passion for each other. The sexual tension is there but it takes a bit for these two to get it going. I want to add the author didn’t go over board on the sex, I felt there was just the right amount without filling the pages up with it. This is one book that when you read it you might find yourself asking, “why isn’t this in mass paper back?” Well, I have no real clue why this author chose to go this route but I will say I am proud that she did. This way she can control her destiny. I know a lot of authors are going to start choosing this option as the publishers get pickier. So don’t let this stop you from trying this book because I couldn’t put it down, I read it in one day. I highly recommend this one to any romance reader.
In his last days of life 91-year-old Ptolemy Grey, mired in dementia, gets an opportunity to regain his sanity and get retribution for the drive-by killing of his beloved grand-nephew. Ptolemy’s flashbacks to his childhood and the words of his mentor, Coydog, fill the story with pithy words of wisdom and humor. Mosley’s description of Ptolemy’s confusion and lack of focus seem scarily real. Ptolemy’s present day lust is a bit unsettling, but overall the story is interesting and focuses on a life, a time, and a place I’m not usually reading about.

I really loved this book! I enjoyed the last half better than the first. The author is very insightful on human emotional needs and has written an amazing novel. I struggled a little with the author's style of writing, at times it would switch from paragraph to paragraph from a different characters perspective, almost like watching a movie or a camera's point of view. But I read that this was her first novel and she has written screenplays in the past, and that shed light on her style of writing. Would recommend this book to everyone!

It makes me want to go out and read more about the saints he highlighted, including a bunch of books I already have on my shelves. It was a good Lenten read for me...and I was able to go to a talk he held at a big conference at the end of February, so that made it more personal.

This was a very enjoyable read, because Jack Reacher is an enjoyable character. Despite the fact that it was easy for me to guess the identity and method that the killer used early on in the book, I still found it exciting to turn to the next page because Lee Child knows how to tell a story and how to dole out pieces of information so that you want to shake him and say, "Yes, yes... now what? Go on!" even if you're just looking for confirmation. Still, I was surprised by some of the details, such as how the paint was transported and the exact why of the murder. I found the secondary level of corrupt means to pursue an end to be more compelling than the crime story. I was squirming in my seat at some of the despicable pressures that the Bureau applied to Reacher. If this was psychology, it worked on me: I kept reading! After the crime story was solved, the fallout of the revelation kept me angry and rooting for Reacher. Psychology indeed... One small quibble, it ended abruptly.
