This was a fascinating book that not only told the story of Jackson's rise to power and his 8 years in office, but the story of his successors as well. I gained a new appreciation on a group of US Presidents that I had a limited background on, and found a lot to like about these men and gained a new appreciation on there contributions to the country. The book also surveyed many of the sociological, technological, religious, and medical accomplishments of the era. Jackson is considered to be the first president to spend money on scientific advancement and research, and advancements like the typewriter, camera, and train all came about during the "age of Jackson". As the husband of an ex-mormon I found the survey of Joseph Smith's and Brigham Young's importance to the era interesting. This is an era that I will be studying more closely in the future.

This is a fantastic series and this ninth book is no exception. Incredibly well written, the characters and time period literally enter your drawing room; you can almost smell the smoke from Holmes' pipe. Sometimes with long series you grow tired of the characters and the drama... but not with this one. King finds a way to create incredible depth of character and atmosphere with precise words that keep the story moving forward until 2:00am at least, which is how late I stayed up last night to finish it. :)

You can't put it down, amazing romance thriller story .Actually it is the second book in the sign of seven , but i still rather prefer the blood brothers and the pagan stone . Recommended "Nora Roberts Amazes me Stephen kings"

This book really grabs you from the start. The way that everything finally starts to drop in place is amazing. The love story's are getting a little jumbled and annoying but the rest of the story is really getting exciting.

This wasn't a terrible read as you go, but it seems to have no point. The plot moves along with no climax or resolution. When we were done reading it, even Ethan asked, "That's it? It's just over? Weird." I just expected more because I love Charlotte's Web.
