I rated this book as a novel, and not as the work of droning non-fiction that it felt like to me as I read it. The writing itself didn't strike me as entertaining or worthy of literary merit. However, the voice resonated with me as painfully honest, authentic and withered. And so, in spite of indirectly being told how to feel at the end of each chapter, and cringing at the un-ending exposition undoubtedly meant to 'explain' the various emotions being experienced by the protagnoist (probably to non-queer readers), the honesty of it all worked for me. It's a story that was worth telling, no matter how unimpressive some people like me may find the end product to be. Definitely worth telling, and worth reading.

** spoiler alert ** 4th in Deborah Knott series. At home again, Deborah gets involved with local murders linked to land purchases. It turns out to be a case of anger with in-laws. Deborah gets knee deep, as usual.

Okay, This is one of my all time favorite books. It is long, but it is a story of an independent American who visits her Aunt in England. She is determined to stay single but she has very little money. So her very rich cousin makes it possible for her to stay independent to see how far she will go in life.
Very nice character build-up and dialogue based around an uninteresting and insignificant story.

This book is brutally honest and beautifully written. "And at night, waking out of a dream, overwhelmed and bewitched by the crowding apparitions, a man perceives with alarm how slight is the support, how thin the boundary that divides him from the darkness. We are little flames poorly sheltered by frail walls against the storm of dissolution and madness, in which we flicker and sometimes almost go out."
still reading this one, but almost done now - love it! Olivia Munn is good looking, and it turns out - quite hilarious, and a pretty good writer too. just a random collection of musings, stories about her past, making it in hollywood, and humorous essays of sorts. some is hit/miss, but the hits are really hilarious (and frequently, a little gross), and the misses, well they're all pretty short, so not much harm. It would probably help in reading this if you know a little about her 1st and/or have seen her on tv. sidenote: Pefrect Couples (her new sitcom) is also quite hilarious. btw, did i mention she's hot? so, yes i highly recommend this one if you like funny books about random people who did some crazy/gross/weird stuff in hollywood or like observational humor about people in general or growin up Asian in different schools. also, if anyone thinks they know who those hollywood stories are about (particularly the shrimp-fisted director in the trailer) i'm all ears....
As most people, I first read this book in high school. I enjoyed it then and I still enjoy it now. It's universal themes and development of characters help people relate to the morality being examined. Besides, who can ever forget Boo Radley???? In my opinion, this is a must read classic.

This was not as easy a read as "Stiff". Not as entertaining, either.
