A book that mixes the light hearted world of vintage fashion with serious subjects of loss, guilt, and forgiveness. In the wake of personal tragedy and upheaval, our heroine, Phoebe Swift opens her own vintage clothing store in London. Her journey of self discovery and forgiveness is compelling and easy to relate to on some level. I loved the descriptions of beautiful clothes and the "second life" they are given as new owners see something lovely in them. Phoebe also develops a friendship with Therese Bell, an elderly woman who sells some clothes to Phoebe's shop. I loved their friendship and how they were able to help one another. Of course, as with any good chick-lit novel, there was definitely romance :) The romances of Phoebe were an enjoyable part of the story and things were kept very PG for the reader. All in all, a very enjoyable book that added some heart and soul to the brit-chick-lit genere.
I really enjoyed the quirky characters in this book. I didn't "like" some of them, but I found them all interesting.

No ifs ands or buts. Everyone should read this book. It is necessary to understanding the American experience, the development of this country, and to a lesser or greater degree for different people, yourself. This is not a discussion. For your own good, reading this book is absolutely and completely obligatory. That all said, I think Fitzgerald has done more interesting and pretty things in his other novels. My favorite one is "Tender is the Night," which I think is deeply touching. But this one? You cannot beat that end image. Ever. It's actually impossible. Hands down, the best thing I ever read in high school.
A great and moody, wintry book, I fell right in. I'm fascinated by books that successfully make the narrator a character who is writing about someone else's life, and the narrator is barely involved in the actual story. It's so difficult to pull off, and so much fun to read when it's done well. Didn't really love the ending, but I'm a scrooge about endings--I love so few.

Liked this, but it didn't work as well for me as Graceling.
Absolutely fantastic, weaves in both the stories of these 'lucky few' with modern and cultural history. I usually shy away from anything remotely linked to science but this showed me what I miss! Magical.
Remember these?!! They were so cool!

The best Harry Potter book yet. Rowling did a great job at providing the perfect closure to the series. I am sad to be finished :(
I was really interested to find out how Burton managed to make it to Medina and Mecca but was left disappointed when the book ended right when he set sight of Medina. There was no description of the place which is what I was expecting. Also, some of his descriptions are a little lengthy and the constant flipping to the endnotes did bother me a little. The book should have been epic given the premise but it fell short to me unfortunately.
