Every American should read this. By understanding the current situation happening in in your home country, then there is a hope to change. Jim Marrs Trillion Dollar Conspiracy might be interesting for further details on the topic of the Illusion of America and the dystopian society.

This was a good read- I enjoyed it muhc more than Omnivore's Dilemma although to some extent it covers similar territory. It is more entertaining because Buford works in various kitchens, such as Mario Batali's (where he spends too many pages I think), and so we see the insides of restaurant kitchens. But then he goes to Tuscany and it becomes a bit of a fairy tale.

entahlah, pas baca ini kok feelnya nggak dapet. heheh ceritanya mirip2 ama salah satu metropop yg gw baca, bukan nyamain sih . tp emang agak mirip. nah lo?

** spoiler alert ** Eye-opening and tragic all at the same time. As someone who is interested in the art of communism's takeover of various countries throughout modern history, I found this book intriguing because it recounted the memories of individuals who went from loyal followers of the North Korean regime to escape artists. Though it was difficult to finish it in one sitting, I found it very easy to pick up again after a month or so of not reading it due to the author's tendency to change subjects quickly — a good or bad thing, I'm not sure. It certainly worked to my benefit. Parts of the content were heavy, not because of gore, but because it was sometimes hard to read nearly firsthand narrations of the mass starvation that swept through the country during the 1980s.
have read about 75 pages and am enjoying it so far
I liked this book. Great ending, but slow in the middle.
I liked the story, and he's obviously a good writer. Yet, even by the end of the book, I still found his style annoying, like he was trying too hard.

This book was simply wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.... It was full of lovely imagery and interesting characters who you really cared about.
Loved the book. I felt like shadowing both characters through the Louvre and all their travels. Was hard to put down.
