Even though I've read it every night for the last three months, I still enjoy it. Great illustrations!
I picked this up as a free Kindle book and like other young adult fantasy I've read...it was a candy read...I whipped through it but really enjoyed it.

Hmm, I obviously went in with high expectations; how can you not when something wins the Pulitzer? Disappointed. This book rode a gimmick. Did I enjoy parts of it? Yes. Did I LOVE parts of it? Yes. But how hard it is to jump through time and space and get into the head of a character for a chapter at a time. A CHAPTER?! It is much harder to sustain an idea, a narrative, for an entire book and have a clear beginning, middle and end. There were chapters that were brilliant, moving, and made me cry. There were chapters that made me skip them (Jules and Kitty, really? practically unreadable.) There were chapters that should have been turned into a different book (La Doll and the general WOW, I was totally shaken after reading that), but they weren't very coherent. It's more like a book of short stories. So while I enjoyed this book, I do not believe it deserved a Pulitzer, especially over Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, which, while it needed an editor, weaved together a narrative much better. I still recommend A Visit from the Goon Squad, but leave your expectations at the front cover. And don't expect that it's a novel about the record industry, that's simply a loose setting.
Strangely enough, this book may have been the most significant factor in my decision not to apply to Princeton. Ah, the confused mind of the teenage girl.

This was the first book I read by this author. I've since read all her thriller mysteries. Love that woman's style!
Very moving. I am still pondering what I can take from this book in terms of making a difference in the world. There really isn't anyway you can get through this book without a lot of self-examination about perceptions, mis-perceptions and social responsibility. The best thing that can come from this book is meaningful action to make a difference whether is be within one's local community or on a larger scale.
For me, the best part of this entire series is it's Steampunk I can understand. Most, with the exception of SP written in graphic novel format, is just too freaking confusing for me. If you are a SP virgin, I recommend this entire series in order to break you in. And I must admit, I would love to have Lord Akeldama as a sassy gay friend. I even have a little bit of a platonic crush on this delightful fictional vampire. There's not much more I can really add without giving away too much. All I can say is - Poor Fred. (Gail will get that. Everyone else, read the book then remember the show I Love Lucy.)

I waited a long time to read this novel because I was so upset by the one that came before. I really didn't like this book, but it was because of the despair of the characters and the situation they were forced to live in. The writing was good, the story was moving, but now I want to get back to Inspector Lynley and Barbara Havers solving cases.
The book caught my eye and what a fantastic read it was.
