Really liked this book. Bob and I adopted some of the relationship customs from this book.
My least favorite of Jane's novels.

Slim, engaging volume exploring whether and how modern physics might allow for time travel (seriously). Some chapters get a little technical and I found myself frustrated at just having to take his word for it, but overall, an interesting read.

Exposes war for what it really is, and debunks the idea of war as a romantic, heroic endeavor. Only complaint is that it seemed to say the same thing over and over ... but maybe that's a good thing.

Good read!
The subject matter of this book (Alzheimer's Disease) made it a very difficult book for me to read. The author, who is a Harvard trained neuroscientist chose to write this fictional book from Alice's point of view. Most books written about Alzheimer's is from the caregivers point of view. I believe that because of her background, and the book being recognized by the Alzheimer's Association, her description of what life is like for a victim of early-onset Alzheimer's is as close to factual as one can get. Those of us who have a loved one with this disease can relate to much of what is written in this book because we have seen it firsthand. What we don't know is what if feels like for the person experiencing the deterioration of their mind and body. I would recommend this book for anyone caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease, to get a better understanding of the feelings and their loved one may be experiencing. I certainly gained more compassion and perhaps a better sense of what is important to them.
Interest in book: Liked illustrations; main character looks like a friend of mine Ideas/ Message/ Plot: Girl likes the number 13; girl is exceedingly smart; girl is quirky; mother is understanding; fantastical; characters When finished book, felt: Indifferent. Easy Read. Doubt I will read book II.
An inspiring story of a woman who becomes closer to God even in the midst of the Rwandan genocide. Loved it!

I liked reading this book since it provided another perspective than the books I had read before - a utopian novel rather than the dystopia work of Bradbury, Vonnegut, Huxley, etc, that I'd always been fond of. It still left me with an uneasy feeling that something must be wrong with Skinner's reasoning, but enjoyable nonetheless. Far too redundant in spots, and I wish it were better written.
