** spoiler alert ** Oh, boy! Did I discover a major plot twist? Just in case, I'm checking this as Spoilers. Page 278 and on: Hodge looks from Sebastian to Jace and asks for Jonathan. When Jace speaks up, Hodge says, "Not you." Later we find out Sebastian is the devil incarnate when he's caught working for Valentine. But isn't Jace supposed to be the one that's part demon? (Or so we learned earlier in this installment of the Mortal Instruments series.) And why, after learning that they are siblings, are Jace and Clary still attracted to each other? True, it causes major irony, which in turn spikes the reader's interest, but wouldn't the author (Cassandra Clare) make the two not attracted to each other after the initial shock (and disgust) she gave the readers in City of Bones? So I'm thinking, no way are they related. I've been thinking that for some time, but now I'm finding concrete clues that they aren't. And I'm getting way excited. Besides the romantic aspect, the rest of the book is awesome. Page 298: Sebastian Verlac isn't really Sebastian Verlac, the Penhallows' cousin. Which means it's possible that he's Valentine's son. Page 302 and on: The real Sebastian is dark-haired, but the man pretending to be Sebastian is truly blonde. Also, the only way to take down the wards of the city is to sneak demon blood in, but doing so is impossible. But Valentine's son--the one who was born with demon blood--would easily be granted into Alicante because he is a Shadowhunter. Sebastian is a spy; being Valentine's son would make him the perfect infiltrator, because he has both demon and Shadowhunter blood. Page 344-5:Luke says Jace reminds him of someone he knew years ago--but he wasn't thinking of Valentine. Page 399 and on: The way Jocelyn describes Jonathan is nothing at all like Jace. She admits later that he's really Celine and Stephen's son. After Stephen died, Celine committed suicide, and Valentine and Hodge cut the baby out of her. Valentine had been giving Celine potions mixed with angel blood, so Jace really has angel blood, just like Clary. Haha. Even though Clary isn't really Jace's sister, she's still kissed her brother--Sebastian. Page 498: Jace said incredulously to Clary, "You could have had anything else in the world, and you asked for me." -----The above was a collection of status updates (and spoilers) that wouldn't fit in the box----- Have you ever read a book so good that you forget to breathe? That your eyes never once drift of the page, or so much as blink, and time slips by without you giving it a thought? Or have you read a book that put a smile on your face so great that it hurt? Even in the bad parts, the book was so exciting and heart-racing that all of the above "symptoms" applied. I have not found a book or series comparable to this one. It's one of a kind. The happy ending wasn't too much and too unbelievable, so I'm left on a good note. I'm just . . . wowed. Cassandra Clare knows how to intertwine all the genres--romance, action, fantasy, and drama. I'm a bit sad to see the Mortal Instruments series end, but I expect more from this fantastic author in the future. So I'm good. :)

Những Chuyện Đàn Ông Nên Biết Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

While I’m not that big of a fan of the Shopaholic series, in fact I can’t really stand it at all, I find myself quite enjoying Sophie Kinsella’s standalone novels. I’ve enjoyed both The Undomestic Goddess and Can You Keep A Secret? and now, I’m contemplating if I should read Twenties Girl. In Can You Keep A Secret?, Emma Corrigan is an ordinary young woman who has, well, a few secrets. For example, she lost her virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while her parents were downstairs watching Ben-Hur. She weighs one hundred and twenty-eight pounds and not one eighteen, like her boyfriend thinks. She has no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is. Having secrets are fine. Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane, who turns out to be the elusive CEO of the company she works for. He now knows every single humiliating detail about her, plus a few incriminating ones. Things can’t possible get any worse, until they do. Granted, this sounds like chick lit all over it, but I must say, it does have a little more substance to it. Emma is an extremely likeable character, for me at least. She has a kind heart, she tries her best to please everyone and really, some of the problems she faces shouldn’t even be there in the first place. For example, her insufferable cousin. Gosh, I can’t even stand her. She’s so annoying. At its heart, Can You Keep A Secret? is a love story, but the good thing about it is that it doesn’t immediately launch into it. When Emma finds out that her stranger from the plane is really CEO Jack Harper, all she can think about is getting away from him. Indeed, she spends more time worrying and trying to remain a professional in front of Jack, that it actually seems very adoring. I quite like the characterizations and while it doesn’t go too deep in Jack’s case, it still makes for good reading. You can’t help but root for Emma because she’s so loveable and likeable and you can’t help but root for their romance because it seems just the thing for them both. There are certain parts of the novel where it gets sad and heartbreaking, because which chick lit novel doesn’t have drama? But rest assure it’s a happy ending and it was a great read for me!
