This was not at all what I thought it would be. It's fairly dark, and the ending is anti-climactic. The author really writes about the various roles people play in alcoholic / abusive families.

A book that I always meant to read, but never did. I recently remembered it and loved it. I think all couples should read it.

I, of course, like WEB Griffin. I've been compared to him as a writer. Daniel J. Norman
In the third and last of the Hunger Games series, Katniss finds herself at the center of a revolution – the symbol of the rebellion against the Capitol. While not quite as compelling as the first two installments, “Mockingjay” still provides edge-of-the-seat excitement and important, curiosity-piquing questions (and answers) about the main characters and the situations in which they find themselves. This is an important series to read with the young adult in your family as it engenders many open-ended questions leading to some terrific discussions. Highly recommended. Grade: A-

Bryson's travel writings are full of odd, laugh-out-loud moments. His English writings are much less so. However, you've got to appreciate a guy who makes the history of the English language not only a pleasant read, but also occasionally funny. The fact that it's so un-scholarly is what makes it worth reading, even if I disagreed with him on a number of occasions.
I loved this book! I have to admit, I was a little intimidated to start it because it was so long, but I flew through it. My only regret is that I didn't wait until all the books were written to read it. Now I have to wait in anticipation for the next one to come out.

Fantastic and powerful treatise, thoroughly smashing Erasmus' half-hearted effort. Luther's command of the Scriptures shows on every page, as well as his theological skill. His first section, dealing with the sufficiency of Scripture is tremendous, and maybe more important and valuable today than even the following dismantling of Erasmus' version of free will. When turning to the texts, Luther destroys Erasmus - the scholar is not the equal of the exegete. And this is where the debate is centered. Luther shows from Scripture that man has lost his free will, and remains bound under sin until grace intervenes.

Like the portrait of prairie life and the courage and vision of Alexandra to make something out of nothing in the face of everything. The characters were a bit sparse, but probably true of real pioneer life?
