Che would have been a shitty American, and so that's why I think (North)Americans kinda don't like him. But, believe me, America is full of the children of the middle class going through phases of revolutionary fervor after they are exposed to the poverty of the kids next door. Now imagine being exposed to an entire continent's poverty. Fidelismo may have just traded one set of problems for the other, but Cuba probably has the best schools and medical care in Latin America, even if it has its problems. Maybe that's what you get when a country is taken over by a lawyer (Castro) and a doctor (Che). In any event, it's insane for our country to judge, as it has, that choice when we have never had to confront such a choice. So, if you can get all of the politics out of your head, you can sit down and read about the life of a very interesting man, who, in the end, repudiated international communism right in the Russians' face. This book, though, plods through the Cuban revolution. If you have already learned a thing or two about that, you can skip 200 or so pages that are less about Che and more about Fidel and/or Cuba.

Wow! The second half of this book I loved more than the first half, but it was all good. It really caused me to reflect on what kind of legacy I would want to leave behind. If I had time to prepare to die, what would I do and say? Very thought provoking and inspiring.
too graphic. boring beginning. couldn't keep the people straight.
I really enjoyed this book. It was one of the first books we read for the CHA book club. I love stories about the afterlife. This one was only partly about the afterlife, but fortunately, the rest of the book was interesting too.

Really enjoyed this story and all the talk on fixing the house up. It's a fun read.

I love James Patterson and this book was no exception. This book has a lot of ups and downs like any good thriller. The characters are very well written. Two crazy people reek havoc on NYC. From there pasts they made perfect friends in the here and now and even though they are a little off you can tell they truly care for on another. The main character is a returning character and you fall in love with him and his family all over again in this book.

The description makes the book sound like it's going to be about some little old lady recalling faded memories of the past, searching for her sister's will. The reality is that Maeve Leahy is a mere 25 years old, though life has handed her a lot to deal with in her short time, and she has let it age her well beyond her years. The Last Will of Moira Leahy is an absolutely mesmerizing tale of "twin-tuition", family, young love, bad decisions, jealousy, adventure, loss, heartbreak... Sometimes dark. Sometimes chilling. Therese Walsh's debut novel is an intriguing web of artifacts, ancient history, human error and emotions- artfully strung together into a haunting story.

I read that this book was the basis for "The Wire", and since we are currently watching the past seasons, I thought this would be a good one to read. No pictures though. I like pictures. "I googled murder..."
This book changed my life! Fascinating story. I read it in one sitting in less than 3 hours. I could NOT put it down! The subject is so taboo in today's society, so it was great to have a prominent person tell their experience even with the fear of being ostersized. Warning: you have to have an open mind while reading this.
