Really good story, one of my favorites from this author.

A collection of short stories that are, you guessed it, written in Scottish, are hilarious, and brutal. There it is. But entertaining. Also adapted into quite a great film.

I was both charmed and moved by this poetic memoir by Mexican filmmaker and writer Claudio Isaac about his friendship with his mentor, the Spanish surrealist Luis Buñuel, who died in Mexico City in 1983.

Had to turn it back in to the library before we finished it. VERY gruesome though. Not sure I have the stomach to read the rest!

Started off slow but quickly caught my attention and drew me into the middle of these wonderfully developed characters.

A good read - a devotional geared toward women that contains some great advice for how to improve self esteem with God's help, and also features some poignant personal stories from Susan's illustrious life as an actress and model. I enjoyed this book. I had an opportunity to have Nancy Stafford as a guest on my radio show, "Divine Intervention." She was able to tell her story of coming to faith in Christ, her miraculous intervention during a brush with potentially life-threatening cancer, and her amazing career in television. She was a great interview, and very interesting. You can listen to the interview here: http://divineintervention.typepad.com...

I am torn between saying I really enjoyed this book and saying this book was just ok. It has a great premise that I wish it had lived up to. Who doesn't enjoy reading about circus folk?! But the characters weren't developed enough for me to really care what happened to them. And the scenes in the nursing home were long and drawn out. I loved the elephant.
I liked this book. It answers a few of the common questions about life between life from a scientific perspective.
Remember when I read 42nd Parallel and complained about how Dos Passos writes his women characters? Well, this book is practiclly wall-to-wall women. Women intriguing against each other for the affections of any number of different "interesting" men. Now I love women, but these Dos Passos gals? Honestly, they become tiresome quickly. I'm not sure when I'll try to tackle the third entry in this saga, but I can only hope that the title "Money Men" means there's more masculine and less "interesting"
