Return of the Native was my favorite book in high school, but I had not read any other Hardy books. Well, except for the Hardy Boys. The writing is masterful and took even more getting used to than Trollope books. Not sure why. Maybe because Trollope is witty and Hardy is not, understating it. To me, the most amazing aspect of the book is the detailed description of the English countryside and also the labor involved in farming in late 19th C. Back-breaking migrant farm work is nothing new. Anyway, to sum up the book: Poor, poor, poor Tess.

I was working at a comic store during the B&W and Indy comix explosions - so I got to read lots of great stuff. YUMMY FUR was one such bizarre title I was lucky to glom onto with the first issue. Haven;t looked at this in year's, will report back when I finally get around to re-reading it.

I absolutely love this book! The romantic tale that is woven throughout the lives of Austen's characters is addicting. I have read this book every year and I enjoy it time after time. I love the language in which it is written and believe it adds to the misticism of the time. I sometimes fancy myself Elizabeth Bennett with my own Mr. Darcy- but mine of course is Russell!

This one got under my skin and stuck there. Didn't much care for the framing, though? Was it at all necessary?

I love this spin on the Princess and the Pea. The princess tests are so funny, the way she describes them and the characters in the book. The way the prince falls in love with Lorelei when he firsts sees her...its a good thing for little girls to dream about. I would recommend this to all ages

I like T. Morrison but this book was dark and difficult to get into. If she hadn't written it I would probably have stopped reading it.

This is great underwater adventure. A must read for anyone who SCUBA dives and especially for those who try to dive deep.

I loved reading this book. There was a lot I already knew, which is to be expected, but i was excited about all the things I didn't know and discovered after reading this book. Fantastic!

Just when I thought I had it rough, I read a true story about Katherine Mary Flannigan who married at 16 to a Canadian Mountie, and lived among the Indians. My small discomforts are nothing compared to what this girl lived through. I won't complain about learning Portuguese or leaving my home for a year and a half, unless I can find someone to sympathize with me!

I'd prefer not to.
New series by Rick Riordan following pretty much the Hero's Journey in this new quest. The books are slightly more YA (Riordan taking into account his original Percy Jackson readers will have grown a bit) and the romance is a bit more powerful. This man knows how to plot a book to make stakes rise and rise and it up rising them even more, so setting up next book. I get it's for kids, so the clues didn't have to be as subtle as in a mainstream book, but sometimes it annoyed me he had to let the clues in slowly, too slowly I got mad at him for not saying things clearly. Characters are relatable and it's a great thing some of the originals from Camp Half Blood make brief appearances (such as Annabeth or Thalia) and that there is a lot of questions about where is Percy (though it should be easy to guess soon in the book for a clever reader - that's what I was referring about the subtle or not so subtle clues for instance).
