First book of 2010 (first half read in '09), and I'm disappointed. That's upsetting to me. It's not that this is a bad book. The suspense is rather good. But the technical jargon is just SO HEAVY HANDED. And so completely unnecessary. When he's walking Amelia through the scene, I dug that part. But the mass spectrometer flux capacitor they used to inspect the dirt? Hi. I don't need to know all of that. Overall, I was disappointed. But it could've been a lot worse. I don't plan on continuing this series.

First Thoughts: WOW! Does this series take a giant leap from the like to love for me with this book! As with Hex Hall Sophie is smart and snarky and I totally love her. I loved meeting her father and the new group of characters....and the twists and turns of the plot...just wow. Can't wait until the third one...though I think the year long wait might kill me! (FULL REVIEW TO COME)

This is the first book in the series and it sets up the whole story and conflict for the series. In this book Harry finds out he is a wizard and goes to hogwarts to learn how to use magic. there he meets his firends ron and hermoinie and they uncover the secrets of hogwarts. In the end they find out one of the professors is Voldemort's host and harry defeats him and voldemort runs away. I liked this book because it set up the story about harry and his journey to become a great wizard and to defeat voldemeor in the end. The main reason i like this book is it was the first harry potter book i read and it got me intereseed in the whole series. One thing i dont like about it was it did not have much action as the later books.

In high school, I did a research paper on F.Scott, this book would have been helpful then, although I based my research more on his novels, but alas, I enjoyed this book very much. I seem to have found a kindred spirit in Zelda Fitzgerald, both good and bad. I wish I could live such a life...
