A great book involving an exhaustive amount of research!

Disappointing follow-up to Brick Lane. It's a short novel (226 pages) consisting of short vignettes about residents and tourists in a fictional Alentejo town. With everything so short, characters are given only a few pages to reveal themselves. Ali gives us a lot of promising starts, but just as we get interested in a character we abandon him or her for the next story. If we're lucky, an interesting character will show up with a cameo in another vignette and we'll learn a little bit more. I understand Ali wanting to go in a different direction after Brick Lane. But I couldn't help but he disappointed in Alentejo Blue.

I was super duper in love with Wuthering Heights until about the last hundred pages. And then I wanted to vomit.

Funny, but not great. It doesn't read like a book, really. It's not something you can get absorbed in, but it was fun to read some of the lists of weird words for things.

Jennifer Weiner's books are always great to read. Fun read over the weekend when I had nothing pressing to do, just sit back and relax and enjoy. The characters are fun and some situations easy to relate to or think about, especially with friends.

Yes, I want to make sure I don't leave out any books I read for summer reading back in high school. I do remember this well, both because it was a quick quick read, which ruled during the summer, and because I really enjoyed it, which I was a little surprised by since when I heard it was some long, epic poem, I thought it sounded totally lame-o. I should read it again, to figure out what the hell I enjoyed.

Continuing story of Mitford.

This is the first work of fiction by a President of the United States, and after having read it, I've gotta say that I think they should stick w. non-fiction. Every time he hit upon/created an interesting character, he passed them over after two pages - it really dragged.

I love, I love I love. I think everyone and their grandmother must know I love Peanuts by now. They're my constant bedside companion, and cheer me up when I'm feeling down. I also choose to take it as an omen that I, who wasn't planning on being in the show at all this year, was asked to play a character named Sally in our annual summer play. Horribly silly, but true. So how could I say no? In this volume, Snoopy is up to more fantasies; especially when impersonating a World War I flying ace hunting the Red Baron; very entertaining, and you can do surprisingly much with such a reasonable, little fantasy. I also enjoy the entering into the strip of Peppermint Patty, a character who is quite different from the others, but equally entertaining and lovable. It really is amazing how much personality Sparky Schulz was able to convey through a few, seemingly simplistic black lines. I can hear the different voices of the characters, I seem to know how they'd move; I know how I were to go about if acting them (remind me to talk my theater company into staging You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown). Now, all I have to do is replace this volume on the shelf, and grab the next. No day can be allowed to go by without Peanuts.
