Absolutely hilarious. Not something that is meant to be read strait through, but every once in a while a passage or two never fails to crack me up. Now the practicality of it really just depends on whether you think you will ever find yourself in a pit of piranas or free falling in an elevator, or in various other unlikely but often hilarious situations that the author comes up with. It also makes a great gift.

i've reread this series several times, and to those who find it a hard slog, well, you are correct. but i've found it to be an amazingly rewarding story, written with careful prose on an epic scale. with each re-reading i find something a little more interesting, and like all great Art, something that makes me think as well as reflect on my own experiences. i just hope they never try to make this into a movie.

I felt like this book just went on and on and on and on. I plugged through, but overall I did not enjoy it. I never felt attached to the characters except for maybe the interpreter. Not worth reading, in my opinion.
