I love the Dexter books. They just keep you interested from start to end, because they are something a little different.

Conrad seems to have a lot of works that would be interesting in contemporary times -- lots of insight into the minds of terrorists. I liked this book so well, I intend to hunt down some of the others. Its a short read, so if your work in literature is also skimpy, this would be a nice place to start. Oh, and most fascinating, Conrad is actually Polish. So, this master of English fiction, is actually writing in his second language.
I thought this would be a fun, frothy romp about dinner parties gone awry or something like that but, it turned out to be a fictitious memoir that reads a lot more seriously. The main character is a food writer who has become successful writing about all the fabulous dinner parties she has. The catch is that she really doesn't host these dinner parties at all...they are all creations of her mind. As she finds herself confronted with the task of actually planning and pulling off a real dinner party, she explores all her fears and emotional baggage; most of which is courtesy of the family life she has experienced. There's a lot of self-doubt, pathos, wry humor and downright charm in this book. Not a "must-read" by any stretch of the imagination though a pleasant afternoon's read.
Lots of people said how good Kokoda is. and Im sure for lots they thoroughly enjoyed it. I, however, think that it was rather hard to read, with the story jumping around from character to character and almost an overload of facts that made it hard to concentrate on the story. I really wanted to be able to say i read it, but I actually found I struggled with getting into the story and continuing that I gave up on reading it 3 chapters in, after it taking me over two months to get to that point.

Read this in about a week (extremely fast for me). Poetic prose about the life and landscape of western Montana ranch life. When so many people I knew were somehow in Montana I was reading all about it... almost as good as being there.

My favorite of Peter Hoeg's books. A clown, a great love affair, quest, mysterious guiders. Exciting, mysterious, fun, thought-provoking, spiritual, and fast-paced.

Okay, so I am reading this again after many years. I can see the literary quality of it, but it is really painful to read. To see people so filled with hatred for each other over a childish love makes me a little sick. It's like reading the literary version of Flowers in the Attic.

I really don’t know how to classify this book. I think it is YA, but I feel it leans more towards Adult. I’ve seen it called Christian Literature, and it is heavy on the faith and beliefs of the Amish community, but it is more about love conquering the darkness, and it is a very dark tale. It is a paranormal romance because there are vampires and a sad love triangle. I found the writing a little rough around the edges and it felt like there were two separate stories going on that didn’t mesh well until they came together at the end. There wasn’t much action and the story kind of plodded along. There are lots of Bible verses and poetry stances throughout that didn’t really add much to the story for me. BUT… I couldn’t stop reading it . The author brought the horror of vampires into the Amish community. These aren’t poor misunderstood vampires. They are predators and killers. read the rest of my review: http://www.loveromancepassion.com/pla...

This book was my favorite so far. I like that Lily is getting more comfortable in her skin, but she still needs so much help. Enter Sailor....hmm. I like him and I think Max needs to go. Aiden is still a mystery and I'm not sure how I feel about him. Oscar and the rest of Lily's merry bunch are great, and I love that she seems to be making a family of them. This mystery has made her a new enemy and I'm curious to see how that plays out, so onto the next!
