It's amazing how this boy as a young child was asked to describe sound to his father. I am amazed at how he went from being a child to translator to child. I loved how his father shows him how much meaning goes into one sign, like the sign for drum. I loved this book.

When Thom tries to find his missing father with his best friend and Hilly, he knew he was preparing for the dangerous life of a spy. What he didn't know was that the serious, real-life danger would start the moment they are facing an organisation involved in art theft. Now danger follows them everywhere and Thom no longer knows if he can trust anyone. In Born to Spy, the trio must spy, steal, hack and lie their way to the truth and as they go searching for answers, they find out more than they wanted to. This was a great read. Very hard to put down. Worth the cheap price.

This book wasn't quite as scary as I hoped it would be. I did like the suspense--even though it didn't have me on the edge of my seat, it did keep me engaged enough that I didn't want to put it down. I think I would have liked a bigger twist at the end. I also think it has an awesomely creepy cover.
Very anxiety producing. I did not enjoy this book at all and was actually mad that I had read it when I finished.

** spoiler alert ** Say one thing for Logen Ninefingers, say that he is awesome. Just awesome. This book lived up to every expectation I had and more. Every single plot line was interesting, every single character developed in both surprising ways and ways I was hoping for. The book was funny, grim, heartbreaking and suspenseful. Sometimes I worry that I read so much and so fast that I won't ever get that rush of a really good book, this one proves that I can still be blown away. Highlights: Logen and Ferro. It has got to be the most realistically portrayed romance in fantasy. From the awkward and funny sex scene to the scene at the end on the boat when neither one is capable of saying what they are really feeling, they felt true to themselves. West. He is changing, not necessarily for the better, but it has sure been interesting reading about it. The Named Men. They are just the sweetest bunch of guys... well, no, but they are funny, hard as hell and real frigging heroes at heart. Threetree's funeral had me choking up and Dogman... poor guy, lost his girl and was made chief. I can't wait for them and Logen to meet up again! Jezal. Of course there was a nice guy living inside of this pompous ass. Of course he was made to see how wrong he was about himself and most of all how wrong he was about Logen. But this was done in such a natural and brutal way that I can't help but love it. Glotka. Everyone loves Glotka and so do I. His wasn't my favourite part of the book, not through any fault of his, I just thought that the seige was the least interesting of all the action in the book. Glotka's inner monologue cracks me up constantly and those moment when something breaks through his cynism and he can't help but be moved are so well written.
