Although she attempts to spin these events as an adventure gone wrong, the overwhelming message I got was one of irresponsibility--both the author's and some of the scientists who helped her. If you want to read a book about great white sharks, there are bound to be better ones out there. If you want to read a book about how someone can become slightly obsessed with a goal to the point that they endanger themselves and their friends, and with only the most superficial level of remorse, then this might be a good book for you.

Great book. Unnecessary swears though which is unfortunate because I can't give to my sixth graders. Other than that, totally appropriate for middle school and up!! I hope this isn't the last time we see this group of characters!
Rereading again - AUGH. I've decided that the most unbelievable / fantastic part of the whole book is the fact that Lise checks in just 25 minutes before her flight is reading for boarding.
CHANGED MY LIFE!
LOVED IT

I started this book when I went to Europe for the first time, so Marquez accompanied me throughout France and Italy - and he was the truest of companions, offering me the most magical other-world. I love that One Hundred Years of Solitude made me feel just that - in delicious solitude. This was a very stretching and very rewarding experience in literature for me because I usually cling like the dickens to plot line, names, and detailed family history - usually assuming that the author has included this for a reason. But, if you have read this - then you KNOW that you cannot possibly succeed at your initial reading if you insist on keeping all of the Aureliano's and Jose Buendia's straight. I tried desperately at first to do this, but found myself falling into the author's drippy language more and more - thereby loosening my type-A firm hold on the details; I do believe this is Marquez's purpose. Marquez made me feel like I have never read anything before...at least nothing quite like this. I look forward to more.
Probably the best of the books so far. Although each has very similar plots, I found myself laughing out loud and reading so quickly to find out what happens with the FTA's as much as what happens with Ranger and Morelli.

One of my faves this year. Wish I could freeze frame people on the subway!

This book is about four Chinese women, who talk about growing up in America with parents who came from China. The book starts of with Jing-Mei, whose mother died and asked her to go to China and meet her long lost sisters, and the book ends with her going on a trip to see them. Each one of the women had their individual struggles of either relating to their mother's, or finding their own individual identities.
Piccolo libro che accompagna il dvd. Carinissimo. Ti offre una percepzione più ampia della narrativa e della sceneggiatura. L'ho comprato a Torino, con Lello, dopo un marrochino! BÒNO!!! :)*
