Fun book to read. Wondering if this is how my sister feels about baking.

I purchased this book from a bouquiniste right by the bridge, Pont Marie, practically at my doorstep here in Paris. I got it because it was only 5 euros, in English and had Lisbon, a place I've been to, in the title. I ended up with an excellent book which I enjoyed very much. The philosphical discussions were though provoking. I think I'll think about this book for a long time. Now to read others by this author. Oh yes, I highly recommend it.

This book made me realize how many times a day I think about my weight. Sad since I could be doing something much more productive instead.

No one could write depressing stories as well as Hardy. They're beautiful in their melancholy.
I thought the first book was good but this book was infinitely better! There was a lot more emotion and substance in it. I can't wait to read the third book!

As much as I love these books, I’m really starting to feel as if they are getting repetitive. Each book is the same: Stephanie finds out she’s in over her head with her next FTA, she and Morelli develop their love-hate relationship, she traipses around with Lula and Grandma Mazur, going back and forth through town, she gets harassed by a creepy man, her car blows up, and she ends up finally capturing her FTA, wth a little bit of help from Ranger or Morelli. That’s the basic outline of every novel, and it’s starting to get old. They're enjoyable! But it's hard to read too many at a time, I'm finding.
The first major novel I've read in a long time that seems to me truly mediocre. Not by coincidence, Fielding also seems to me the most resolutely and repugnantly masculinist of the 18th-century novelists. The authors of Pamela and Moll Flanders could never have perpetrated the outrages of this novel.
Good, quick read for Hank fans.
