This is one of the best books I have read in a long time and my favorite book by a hungarian author.

I like all of Amanda Quick's books, not for their plot however. Actually not even for the romance (though some of them are quite interesting!) I read them for their characters. They're refreshingly unique and odd. Okay, may be the word unique isn't the most accurate one to use... But it's like one of Nora Roberts books - You know how the plot is going to be and you KNOW it's going to be a happy ending. You can even predict the things about which the characters will pick a fight about -_- BUT. The character's past and their careers are wonderfully fleshed out and that is how most of Ms. Quick's books are. However, I found this book to be a little.... boring. No, that doesn't mean it's the end of the world or that this book is beyond hope. It's just I wanted there to be more interaction between well, ALL the characters. I had such hopes when I started the book! *Sigh* Oh well, it wasn't a horrible read. It really was just okay.

Fun, if you liked Firefly (the television series).
I. Loved. This. Book. First, Trickster gods are near and dear to my heart, so when Coyote showed up I was leery. I hate it when Tricksters aren't done well. Thankfully, Ms. Briggs did an amazing job with it, I loved the character and I felt he was true to his archetype. I also enjoyed Mercy and Adam's honeymoon. The surprise wedding was wonderful and the fact that they don't have it easy and are clearly working on issues to make sure they don't get out of hand was refreshing and realistic. I think they make a sweet couple and it's nice to see Mercy being loving and possessive after the dance that they've done around each other. Finding out about Mercy's heritage was a great touch. I've been wondering when her parentage would be explored, and I didn't expect Joe Old Coyote to be who and what he was. The only thing that I find stretches my credulity is the amount of damage that Mercy continually takes... even if she is a walker how much abuse can she take? The mixing of Native American mythos with the Celtic was a nice touch. I was sad to see the walking stick make it's exit, but I'm sure that it'll make sure that Coyote's sheep are fruitful. *laughs*

The other stories can be uneven, but the titular "Babylon Revisited" might be the best short story I've ever read.
Two biographies in one book of Roald Dahl. Full of funny adventures. Love it! Love it!
What a moving book, the end had me in tears. Although the author and I have had completely different lives and experiences, I have to say that I recognized parts of myself and my family in his story. If the mark of great art is how it illuminates the common experience of being human, Dubus III has succeeded.

I had no idea what to expect from this book. To be perfectly honest, I purchased it on my Nook Color because it was an interactive book with videos, etc. It was better than I expected. It is a small history about Harry Potter fandom, how it grew, what happened with fan web sites, fan books, fan arguments over HP canon, and everything else in between. The book's author was (and perhaps still is) a writer/employee of one of the largest HP fan sites on the internet, The Leaky Cauldron. There are several excellent chapters which detail the rise of the Potter novels from the first book being published and everything it went through to get to the printed page, to how word got out about it when it was first released. There is an extensive interview with J.K Rowling (who also writes the forward), along with details about meeting members of the cast from the films. I am a fan of the Potter books and movies, but not a die-hard, know every thing type of fan. And yet, I found this book interesting. So, I can imagine it safe to say that if you are a die-hard fan of the Potter books and movies, you'll love this book.

As true as I am lead to believe by the author's writing, this truly is an incredible story of one child soldier's experiences through trauma, loss, survival and opportunity to live. What makes it possible for Ishmael to survive the war while others around him died?
