Surprise ending...I was clueless...that doesn't happen very often

4.5 stars. The main characters were sweet and the story was interesting. I preferred the letters to and from the residents of Guernsey to those to and from Sydney, but towards the end of the book I began to appreciate the perspective they gave the whole story. For me the end was wrapped up just enough to give me closure, but still allowed me to use my imagination to fill in the rest.

Daisy Miller was just ok for me but I loved Washington Square. My heart just goes out plain and lonely Catherine Sloper. Her days consist of needlework and insults from her stuck up rich father, Dr. Sloper. When she finally has a chance of finding true love with the dashing Morris Townsend, Dr. Sloper believe he is the worst of libertines and is only after Catherine's fortune. A must read. I also recommend the wonderful black and white classic The Heiress starring Oliva De Havelind, Montgomery Clift and Sir Ralph Richardson!
A friend suggested this book to me years ago. Honestly, I didn't ever think I'd read it because sci-fi/fantasy really isn't my *thing*. I'm glad I gave in. Replay is one of the best stories I've ever read. The main character of this book dies within the first few pages... and then returns to relive his life over and over with all of the knowledge his life experiences have given him. There are twists and turns throughout, keeping you guessing about what will happen, where Jeff's life will take him next and how the story will conclude.

I keep on hearing how wonderful this book is from people who are 'well read', and there is a certain part of my pride that aspires to such an achievement. I've read at least 20 reviews. But, I keep coming back to the fact that it is a lot of nonsense, and the reality is there are TONS of other books I would ENJOY reading. Maybe "Love in the time of cholera" (which is shorter!) is my one Gabriel Garcia Marquez? I'm deciding not to read this, at least... for now.

Can a book be life changing? --because if so, this one is.

I really liked the colorful pictures in this book. I only wish there would've been more pop-ups or other engineered stuff throughout the book instead of just at the end. Very cute still and appropriate for young children.

I loved this classic! I even knew what was going on and what was going to happen and I was still completely enthralled and in suspense. I actually jumped a little a few times while reading, which is very unusal for me. This classic has not lost any of its potency and I absolutely loved it!

That elderly people want and need to be treated as fully funtioning adults who are capable of making their own decisions; also, that when you're old it's tough enough to remember the names of your grandkids, let alone your great-grandchildren!
