I enjoyed this book I was suprised that half of it showed pictures of Navoo. I wanted more story.. thus gave less stars.

Matched by Ally Condie Reviewed by Moirae the fates book reviews Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow. (Synopsis provided by goodreads) I was so excited to read this novel, the beautiful cover the buzz it got before publication, for me, the book was just okay. It should be said that I am not the biggest fan of dystopian novels. The writing was good, the character development and the dialog was good, but for me Cassia the main girl, I found to be not very likable. I found her to be selfish and kind of boring. I did like Xander I found him to be very interesting and I really wish there would have been more of him. I wish it was told from his point of view not Cassia’s. I do hope the second book in this series is better, I do plan on reading it, maybe it will change my mind. Again dystopian novels are not my favorite things to read. I really wish we knew more about the Society. We don’t know much about them, we have no idea who they are or possibly what they are. I wanted to know more about them and more about the Officials. I think if I had more information about them, I could have enjoyed the novel more. Overall rating **1/2 2 ½ out of 5 stars Cover art: It’s beautiful! Obtained: My personal library.
A Harry Met Sally story with an ending that is not for the faint of heart...

So far I think this one is not as humorous as his previous works...I still have this image of the author vacuuming his room with his nose using a straw to get all the cocaine. Anyways, still a pleasant read, and does get me to laugh on some occasions.
Favorite book ever. Good for re-reading after re-reading. Lots of quips, class and romance. I personally own at least 4 copies of this book if anyone loses theirs.

I liked The Blue Sword so much better.
Really important historical info in here. The first half of the book is very good and very, very depressing. The second half has more to do with the main character who I really wasn't in love with. I wanted more about the holocaust, less about the main character's marriage problems. I also take issue with the way the abortion clinic was depicted. Now I want to see the movie.

After hearing so much buzz about the movie (which I haven't seen yet), my husband decided to read the book with me. A very entertaining read-aloud book...I think even for younger children (probably around middle grade), too. I loved how Mattie's 14yo narrative voice jumps off the page. She is the epitome of stubborn and makes you laugh because of it. This book reminds me a lot of To Kill a Mockingbird, in terms of voice (both narrated by strong independent girls). Definitely a book I would recommend to friends (and students!).
