I thought this was one of the funniest sci-fi books I've ever read. I finished it just before the American movie came out and they did an excellent job. Just remember, DON'T PANIC!
I loved this book! It was so well written and a great story. It took over my life, though. Once I started reading it, I couldn't do anything else and spent many late nights reading. In fact, one morning I was so tired from reading the night before that I went to work wearing two completely different shoes and didn't notice until late that afternoon. I read a lot of 'girl' books so it's good for me to read something that appeals to the more boyish adventure side of my personality every now and then. I look forward to reading the sequels. If you're not into fantasy, this may not be your thing. But I don't know anyone who has read this book who hasn't liked it.

In this book of the Amelia Peabody series, the shadow of WWI descends upon Europe and the world, including Amelia's beloved Egypt. The Emersons are caught up in the maelstrom and in the Great Game of espionage. As always, this was great fun!

The film ruined it a bit for me but I think it was still pretty good.

Apparently I'm missing out on a lot of the good stuff - data tables, pie charts and the rest - by listening to the audio version of this. I also have to suffer through the author's annoying narration - he chews through each sentence like it's a piece of tough steak. If you're choosing between reading this or listening to it I would definitely pick up a book.
not what I thought it was...
It was very good but not as good as Gold Coast but still an enjoyable read with a good ending.
For most of her lifeixteen-year-old Hattir Brooks has been shuttled from one distant relative to another. Tired of being Hattie Here-and-There, she summons the courage to leave Iowa and move aal by herself to Vida, Montana, to prove up on her late uncles's homestaid claim. "At least now my letters will be more intresting," she writes to her good friend, Charlie, who is fichtinf the Kaiser in France. I copied it from the book 'Again'
It was really hard for me to get into this book, which is strange because I love all her other books.
