This book was a disappointment in comparison to most of Pratchett's books. Where were all the puns and punchlines that come out of nowhere? Pratchett has always been able to catch me off guard and make me laugh. But this one was more focused on plot, which wasn't even that compelling, and it just wasn't very funny. I couldn't believe I found myself forcing myself to finish it.

Compelling. We home school our kids. We always had our own reasons. Gatto helped me articulate them even better. Sometimes he feels a little out there, but so much of the time he's spot on. In the case of centralized schooling, more is so much less. Cut the gordian knot and let children and people learn without the onus of expertise.

5/17/13 Well, guys, we started reading this and got about 97 pages in when something got in the way. We decided to take a break and now I'm picking this one up on my own. Perhaps a read aloud will be in our future, but the time has come for a regular reading. 11/30/10 My significant other is reading this book *to* me, so it's going to take us a while to get through it.

A meaningful read when I was 19; I don't remember too much now, other than the gorilla and the Old Testament stuff. Not eager for a reread, though, nor interested in the sequel. Still, a good eye-opening/mind-opening read for something raised Catholic.

Parker is the last of her 4 friends to find love. I liked this series and am sad it is now complete. I love weddings and it was fun to read about the business of wedding planning. By no means is this deep literature, but a fun, predictable read.
