A silly fun book about another girl who has her heart broken by her guy and how her best friend helps her through her misfortune. Declan, the boyfriend, has staked everything...home, savings...on his dot.coms that are going belly up save for the soft porn site that he used Emily's saucy photo on, without Emily's knowledge. Things bust open when Emily discovers her "bum" on the Internet...she even loses her job as a school teacher. Didn't disappoint although I could "see" the ending coming. If you want a happy ending, this is a book for you. British author. Previous book For Better For Worse was on Kelly Ripa's reading list...don't hold that against it.

I am a lawyer and this book was very tedious. Dry, dry, dry. Gordon makes a great contribution to the legal/constitutional arguments made by Mormons and antipolygamists and makes a good case for the changing scope of federalism as a result of these cases. Read it for that. Don't read it to actually understand what happened. If you want that look to Carmen Hardy, Van Wagoner, or Kathleen Flake. They do a more thorough job. She pontificates ad nauseum about legal theory which really bogs down the narrative.

Loved this book! Couldn't put it down!
Read this years ago when I was on a Pigeon kick.
E-Library audio book on my clip.
A very thoughtful and elegantly written book recommended to me by a friend. It really makes you think about your dreams, and whether your life is fufilled or not. It's lovely.

Before starting I have to rather admit that I bought this book for a dollar at a bookstore that was going out of business . . . . This book is the story more of one man's journey (author Geoff Gilpin) than an expose into the transcendental meditation movement. The book is light on background details about TM or the Maharishi himself, but as a journey of self-discovery (or re-discovery in this case, Gilpin practiced TM decades ago and his return to it is the basis of this book), it's fine. The prose is effective, but simple, Gilpin is not a great writer but he does usually convey what he means to. Personal conversations come across as stilted and awkward, but they are few, and they don't ruin the book.

powerful and provocative ideas.
Sort of like Gift of the Magi for young kids, except with a happier ending. Nancy spends her allowance on a present for her sister, so doesn't have enough left to buy a lace fan. So she has a garage sale (boutique sale) to raise money. She sells a necklace her sister loves to a neighbor, then goes to get it back by bargaining for it with more trinkets and a refund. She does this even though it means she will not get the fan, and it's all worth it to make her little sister happy.
