The Candy Bombers is a book I picked out of the bargain books on Amazon so I could get $25 free shipping for another item I was purchasing and what a great find. Its the story of the Berlin Airlift shortly after WW2 when the Soviets tried to force the Allies from Berlin and basically began what became the Cold War. Really interesting and the writing is history that unfolds as a story which is the kind of history writing I enjoy most. Not a dry read by any measure and maybe one of the best histories of any event I've ever read. Seriously, at times, I was chocked up with emotion while reading. An inspirational story of American leadership in the world, how Germany went from a totalitarian, dictatorial state of Nazism to fully embracing democracy and what America stands for, the goodness of this country and its people that I've encountered yet and I give this book my highest recommendation.

...I couldn't get into this book. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't get into the styles and the stories. Seemed scattered to me.

This started off well, but after the first third, I had trouble following the characters. It was very hard to read more than 30 pages at a time (lots of details and changes) and too thick to read in bed (which is my preferred reading place). Since it's due back at the library, I'm going to quit for now.
I first learned of this book when I saw the author plug on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. It seemed interesting and very similar to a book that I read a while back called Physics for Future Presidents. For that reason, I decided to read it and, to say the least, I found it to be quite informative. The book basically talks about the technological advancements that are being made in the battle field. One such example of this would be the Predator drones. It used to be that in order to get information or an overview of the battle, you would have to take a plane up into the sky, fly over the field, take pictures of the field and go back. Mind you, all this done whilst being shot at by flak. Now, we can take pictures, do recon and even take out targets with unmanned aerial vehicles and, here's the kicker, those unmanned aerial vehicles are being piloted by people sitting in an air conditioned room in the Las Vegas. This book really advanced my knowledge on the advancements in war. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys science or electronics because the book really explains a lot about it.

nice read. talks about a woman's journey to her inner self. she writes about how the world sees her and how she sees herself. she takes her view of herself internally, finally, whereas she was defining herself through other's views.
Este libro fue asombroso. La experiencia de un niño pequeño de crecer y no saber a dónde acudir. Es una lectura obligada
