the idea behind this book was unique, the characters were well developed, overall this was just a highly entertaining novel, one that I could definitely read again.

It took me a while to figure out that it wasn't really a dialogue between 2 people, but more of a cathartic rambling of the wronged friend/husband. I kept waiting to hear "but she was my sister..." or "Henrik--I was really in love with you..." Agg. I think the digression was kind of brilliant, but I'm stewing for the answers and the author is long dead! [I'm irritated that Krisztina never ventured to the Hunters Lodge in 8 years!]

A very readable ethnographic account of life in some of the worst inner-city neighborhoods in Philadelphia--kind of an academic counterpart to David Simon's The Corner. The book is ten years old now so some of the details feel a bit dated but the dilemmas it describes are still relevant and the problems have yet to be solved.

Two million dollars weighing on her shoulders and no where to turn, her father is an option but has made it clear she needs to make it on her own. Cruz Rodriguez has waited a long time to get Lexi back in his bed, after one time years ago still leaves him wanting more. When he offers her a deal she can't refuse, pretend she is his fiancee' for six months in order to introduce him to the elite, she reluctantly accepts concerned that she may lose her heart in the deal. It was pretty good, a little melodramatic at times.

This is a good book overall. Jackie Lyden is obviously a talented journalist and writer and very educated. There were some parts, however, that dragged a little--particularly the quoted parts from her mother's writings.
