The book is surely one of the very thought provoking ones during the partition era. The writing stlye of book is very straight forward and the essence of all the characters can be felt easily. The massacares and the horrifying consequencies are the most heart quenching parts of this book. It is still hard to believe that human nature is so volatile that even a little spark of revenge can can cause the wildfires of hatred and rivers of blood. The books shows how the people are motivated by religion for either good or bad. This is the very basic problem of most of the ongoing conflicts even in the today's world. But the book gives a very deep insight of the times during the partition and most of the scenes were actually a reality. The book has left us thinking whether we have improved or gone worse. Besides this, the book explores the common lifestyle of the far-flung Indian villages before 1947, where everyone was neglected part of the fast growing world. Life was slow and chaotic. Surely, we have come a long way surely.

4.25 I like the slow churn of this one; nothing is rushed, but it all seems reasonable.... Beyond that, I like the character development and the world Lu has built. There's a ton of room for follow up story here. Also, I totally dig that a few of the resident bad asses in this book are female, though I love that Day's strengths and personality never wavered. I have book 2 & 3 already. Will read soooon.

You know how they say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, well I do. I picked up Jacquie D’Alessandro’s Sleepless at Midnight last fall because of the cover. It was sensual while not being risqué. I bought it when I read that the heroine sneaked into his room to spy on him bathing. I was not disappointed. What followed was some of the best dialog I had ever read in a romance novel with a touching story besides. In addition to the witty repartee the bedroom scenes should be noted. Bien escrito y muy atractivo, normalmente no leo novelas de suspenso / espías, pero disfruté esta. Definitivamente pude ver que se convirtió en una película.
