At the beginning there were a lot of characters that I was trying to remember who was who but it didn't take long to get used to them. Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a cute, feel-good book.

My favorite part about this book were a few selected anecdotes which were pretty humorous. However, this book reads like some long, self-indulgent, train-of-thought ramblingness from a person who desperately wants you to think that he's cool. While some parts are enjoyable, profound or insightful are not words that I would use to describe Blue Like Jazz.

This series is a very good read. There are some very interesting concepts in here, and the main characters are very well done and spectacularly memorable. Everything Friedman has done has been unique and clever - I really wish she had more out.

This was the first book in the series, one that I finally found. I love this series and it's a shame that there really wasn't an ending book before Charlotte MacLeod passed on. Sarah Kelling married her husband right after her father's death when she was 17 or 18 and this is 6 years after the fact. They find a body in the family vault, which they are opening up to entomb Great-Uncle Frederick as per his last wish, and an onlooker realizes who it is... a woman who disappeared 20 years before. Who killed her? Why was she buried in the Killing family vault? Sarah starts finding answers to questions that she hasn't yet asked, and starts growing up/maturing despite the fact those around her still treat her like a small child.

I enjoyed reading this book and finished it in just a few days. There are alot of mixed reviews on here about this book and I think it's because while it's a very compelling story, it feels a little dissatisfying at the end. Not that the end was bad, it was just that I read the entire book kinda waiting to see where it would go, and it didn't really go anywhere. Overall though, a good book that held my interest and that I would recommend.
