Brilliant story that scared the crap out of me. I still have "dust bunny" nightmares. Shudder-inducingly good.
I had not read a Jodi Picoult book in some time because I felt they all were similar in plot, dilemma and resolution. This book is no different. Very much like reading My Sister's Keeper and with a legal case that just didn't play right. I never liked the mother character, Caroline and never believed that she would bring this law suit especially against her best friend. As much as the author didn't want you to believe the motive was money what other motive could there have been. A mother watched her family fall a part just for money. I also had a hard time with Marin's mother showing up as a juror. How contrived.

The Great Outdoors Volume 2 Two Erotic Stories by Lucy Felthouse The Great Outdoors Volume 2, the most recent episode of Lucy Felthouse’s ‘fresh air ’erotica, gives the reader two short doses of romantic sexual fantasy. In the first tale ‘A Date to Remember’ we meet Zoe on an utterly disastrous date. Bored to tears she can’t wait to escape from the dull monologue of historical facts that Nick keeps throwing at her. Yet when they are caught in an impromptu storm in the park, things take an unexpected, and far more interesting turn.... ‘In Pursuit of Anna’ dives straight in with a post-coital cuddle between Anna and the charismatic Greg. Away on business in a hotel, Anna is keen for their encounter to continue, but when she hears her friends calling her, she panics. Not wanting her colleagues to realise what she is up to (or she’ll never here the last of it), so she flees from the room and hides in her own. Unhindered by pure intentions, Greg tracks his quarry down, and the couple make full steamy use of Anna’s open air balcony... Easy sexy fun, The Great Outdoors Vol 2 carries on from where its predecessor (The Great Outdoors Vol 1), left off; making even the most devoted townie want to take a lungful of fresh air.

I listened to this on tape on a couple of my drives to PA to pick up Faith. I found that the way I best connect with a book, though, is to actually read the words on the page. So I read most of it as well as listened to it. This book had shades of Bohjalian's other book "Midwives" in that it involved a medical situation. I found the main character less than attractive, though; parts of him annoyed me. It might have had something to do with the reader on the tape, but I felt him to be on the wimpy side of life. It occurs to me to wonder what my impression would have been if I had only read the book and not listened to the tape.

Artists suffer from proving themselves to the world, but even moreso, to themselves. Plath's account is intriguing and sad, yet difficult with which to relate. This book definitely made me want to research the author's life.
Scapin il est très très malhonnete comme bonhomme!!!
Better even than the first book. I actually like the boy in this book- he wasn't my favorite in book one. But this second book- I didn't mind it when it switched over to his perspective. This book was intense from about 1/3 of the way in, all the way until the last page. Loved it.
The Linder family was torn apart the evening that Hugh-Jay Linder was murdered in his home. The most popular son of the biggest land owners in the county, Hugh-Jay's death immediately prompted everyone in the town to believe that the killer was Billy Crosby. Having just killed one of the family's cows, broken fences that conatined farm animals, and having set fire to various parts of the Linder's land, Billy Crosby appeared the perfect suspect. Motive: check. Means: check. However, twenty three years later, Billy Crosby's son, Collin, now a lawyer has set him free. And Billy is headed straight back to the little town that so quickly gave him up. As he steps foot into town again, it's obvious that little has changed and many firmly agree with his guilt. Slowly, word starts to spread that lead many to question his role in Hugh-Jay's murder. Left to fend for herself following her father's murder and mother's disappearance, Jody Linder reels in the wake of Billy Crosby's return. Her world shaken, nothing she has learned to believe will ever be the same. She will learn the truth about what happened to her parents and also falls in love along the way. I am torn between three and four stars for this book. The twists and turns kept me guessing, the ending nothing like I had expected.
This is a autobiography from a colombian politician who had ideas to change a corrupt government. But she was kidnapped for several years and just recently released in a stunning escape. An interesting book about a culture I didn't really know anything about.
