Hilarious. One of my kids' teachers told me this book sounded like something I would write. Thank you, person who is now one of my favorite people forever.

I really like this Budnitz but I think she fares better with short stories.
I would recommend this book to everyone. It tackles the deep seated issues within America putting into perspective history, the constitution, and facts that divide Statis and Conservatives. Levin did a nice job providing statistics and data to present his case, and was able to clearly state and address his points.

I'm just going to be blunt about this. This book was weird. Easily read, sure. Well-rounded characters, yup. Plot, just plain odd. The story follows Rose Edelstein, who can understand people based on the taste of the food they make. She can identify ingredients and their sources in addition to the emotions of the chef. It all begins when she taste a chocolate frosted lemon cake baked by her mother that just tastes like sadness. I think this book had great potential. The story could have blossomed in so many ways. There were opportunities that I felt should have been taken that just weren't. The plot was occasionally left dead and empty when it temporarily had such promise. Just when I would get to a point where I thought "Here we go. This is about to get really good..." nope. It stopped. The direction of the plot would change or the time frame of the story would jump to another year, another location. It was very frustrating. Honestly I was torn as whether to give it two or three stars. The sheer potential of this book is the only thing that saved it from a two star rating. I found the story line of Rose's brother, Joseph extremely vague and frustrating. I'm certain that the vagueness was intentional, but because of it the entire story line containing the brother only detracted from the novel as a whole rather than adding the depth that it had the possibility of doing. Overall, I suppose I just find myself disappointed and angry at having finished this book without getting what I wanted out of it.

A good book to have with you when you find yourself hanging around the hospital. As always, horses play a part and the other part this time was weather, its reporting and the problems it can create when it goes badly. Francis was, as in some other of his books, part time in Florida, in case you were sick of Newmarket in England. I never tire of this series and I always learn something.

Although I found this book to be a bit slow to get into, it turned out to be a very exciting story!

** spoiler alert ** WARNING! MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! Firstly, Hush Hush and Crescendo, in my opinion, were way better than this book. I don't exactly know why but i feel a little disappointed with this book. Don't get me wrong, it was a good book, but the fisrt two were better. I don't think i wanted Nora to lose her memory, that just frustraded me. And Patch...he went all soft! Well, not really, and i know he loves Nora and all but i liked it better when he was the arrogant and intimidating Patch in the first two books. I hated all the soppy parts too. Ugh! There were so many!

Iloved this book except fpr the ending. The characters were all flawed women who I could I dentify with in one or another. They all discoverd their strengths through their connection with the main character. The ending was too pat and predictable so I was let down at the end.
I spent 250 pages wanting to like this book more after reading such glowing reviews about both the prose and the young author... The story unfolds in the Balkans, torn apart by civil war, through the eyes and experiences of a young doctor, Natalia. The quest throughout the book seems twofold - defining herself as a young woman coming of age and becoming a physician during a civil war and also putting herself into the context of her family - grieving from the mysterious death of her grandfather in an isolated village away from his loved ones. Perhaps some of the symbolism was lost on me as the story flipped between past reminiscences of her grandfather's tales and her present situation - a style of story telling which I found to be somewhat artificially fractured.

Ok, I LOVE THESE BOOKS! They are so dang fun and so much fun for kids too. I love the way she thinks. I actually learn a lot from her.
