This is a facinating story of Warsaw during WW II and a family who risked everything to help many Jews escape the Nazis. The writing style is a bit dry for my taste.
This was adorable and surprisingly angst-free for an Amy Lane book. It wasn't perfect and a couple of things about it annoyed me; such as the fact that Asa was a bit too good to be true and Sebastian was kind of frustrating, especially when it was obvious what the right choice was at the end of the summer but he still insisted on following his stupid plan. That said, I just love Amy's writing so much that I could overlook these minor gripes and just get swept away in the sweetness and humour of the story. I had a big grin on my face at the end of it and sometimes that is all that needs to be said!

The captain of the Beagle was not convinced that Darwin's mission was a good idea, and he certainly disagreed with many of the young naturalist's conclusions. But the caption was a man of character, interested in what he saw, and not an unthinking reactionary, as it might be easy to assume. Reading about this side of the famous trip that led to the publication of The Voyage of the Beagle and On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection has been quite entertaining, and reveals many of the hardships that Darwin glossed over in his own writings.

I think zoya pirzad should've not published this book.although it was good selling,it was just for the success of her last books.
Beautifully written prose poetry that ultimately failed to engage me. Although I enjoy the combination of mystery and fantasy, I do eventually want some explanation for why characters behave as they do or why events unfold in a certain way. "The Winter Rose" only gives partial explanations (at least as far as I could tell) and this frustrated me and left me feeling as I'd awoken from a lovely dream that never resolved itself satisfactorily.

Fish falling from the sky! Hail the size of volkswagons! They really do things bigger in Texas. Erik Larson always does nice work, I liked this even more than Devil In the White City. Even given the unspeakable horror of a city swept to sea in the form of detritus, complete with live, trapped citizens, only to have it burst into flames a hundred yards from shore, I think the biggest takeaway from this book is why Houston is the fourth largest city in the country and not Galveston
Entertaining! I really like all of the Left Behind series that I read up until the atrocious title The Mark. Easy to read. Fun characters.

Mr Mike introduced me to the writings of Hunter S Thompson. this one is a collection of his commentaries on politics, sex, and sports - I didn't put it down until I finished it last night - great book.

I just want to give Lac a big hug and tell him he's a great guy. And that he's awesome for breaking the cycle of violence. There were some parts of this that were hard to read due to content. A lot curse words as well. Overall neat to read about a different culture within our culture.
I totally fell in love with this book. I could really see everything that was being described and I loved the characters. Would recommend it to anyone.
