Wow... words fail me. This book was amazing, heartbreaking, moving, terrifying, inspirational, unbelievable... beautiful. I don't typically read non-fiction, but my book club selected it. I am so very glad they did. My grandfather was a Navy Ace in WWII, and was shot down over Japanese waters and forced to wait for rescue in his tiny life raft. After almost 12 hours, he saw a ship on the horizon and used his signal mirror (which we still have), not knowing if it was an American or a Japanese vessel. It turned out to be American, and he was rescued. His story has been a part of my family's history for as long as I can remember, and also chronicled in numerous accounts and books. Clearly, my grandfather's story doesn't come close to what Louie endured, however my beloved, heroic grandfather died in 2009, and after reading this book, I now realize the unparalleled opportunity I missed out on by not speaking with him in detail about his time in the war. READ THIS BOOK.

Possibly the best book i have ever read! Campbell's knowledge is beyond any psychologist, philosopher, or mythologist; as he weaves together the various traditions with the insight of a modern mystic.

This book comes with a CD loaded with a good selection of podcasting software, but while the CD is a great idea, a reader might be better served reading up on the actual process elsewhere. The trouble with this particular book is that while it seems to be targeting the podcasting novice, the dry, verbose textbook-style delivery is not very encouraging and strips some of the fun out of what should be an exciting and dynamic process. There are some very good, useful practical solutions here and the process for setting up a podcast is all there, but all of that is going to be of no use if the average reader isn't motivated enough to plow through it. For the skimmer, Section 4, "Planning Your Podcast" may be the strongest with its solid advice on incorporating music without falling afoul of copyright and how to structure a show to create a stronger program.

Amazing book!!!!!!!!! I saw the movie first but everyone kept saying the book was really good so i decided to read the book and once i started to read it i couldn't put it down. Its about kids from different districts 1-12 that fight to survive. It's literally killing each other to be the last one standing. Its starts from District 12 and Katniss the main character volunteers to be tribute in place of her sister. Along with another tribute whose been picked Petta. There is a whole thing with them when they were young but now they have to get training for the hunger games. Throughout the whole training sessions and the actual game you see romance and a lot of action. I really enjoyed this book. If you love action and a hint of romance this is the book for you. It keeps you engaged and wanting more after every page. AMAZING and I LOVE IT!!!! New favorite. On to the next book :)

I had this in a pile of books to speed-date, and this one didn't make it past the 50 page test. I partially enjoyed Prep by the same author, but was skeptical of the content of this one from the start. Just knowing it was based on the life of Laura Bush, loosely, yes, but it definitely didn't reach out and grab me in the pages I gave it. I saw another reviewer refer to the protagonist as "limp lettuce," and I understand the book declines over time, rather than improving. It seemed pretty limp to me to start, so I'll just call this firmly "not my thing" and let someone else read it.

i really, really didn't think i was going to like this book, but i really, really did. the mystery angle is light-but-intriguing and the characters and voice are adorable-but-real.

This was a wee-bit too philosophical for me.
perfect beach read! I've decided this is my favorite book format/narrative. Dysfunctional family story with character studies of women of several generations within a family.... with realistic portrayals of course. Really enjoyed this one. Not prize winning material really but entertaining and true to life.

They really should put all 5(or 6?) books all in one! They're great nonetheless-It's nice to hear more about the influential WOMEN in the bible and how much they really effected history!
