Limnitz, an anthropologist, examines the history of death and death imagery in Mexico. The jury is still out on what it thinks of it.

First read this in high school, then read it while in college (this time for fun). It wasn't until my second read that I actually enjoyed this story. I'm glad I chose to read it again.

Whoo. Creepy. Bought this on a trip and then lost the book, bought it again and read it on Kindle for the iPhone. Dexter is a character I'd rather not know personally, but Lindsay makes us believe in him. I plan to read other books in this series, but maybe not back-to-back.
Reviewed on Wicked Reads vkwickedreads.wordpress.com I've awaited a few day on reviewing this book to stew on it. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it. Many readers are complaining about variations on whether this is Paranormal Romance vs Urban Fantasy or HEA vs HFN. That Ward's original vision of the series was romance and she is letting readers down by changing how she writes the series. I could really care less about any of this controversy. I would read anything the WARDen writes, even a cereal box. I feel as the author of this series it is her prerogative to write it any way she sees fit, and I love her all the more for it. Jeez, lighten up readers, it's just for entertainment. I understand her NEED to write as she wishes without catering to fans. As a huge UF fan, I am excited that the series isn't traditional in the romance guidelines. I love a series to end in HEA, but during the journey I want to be surprised. I love that as we read the series past couples deal with everyday issues, trials, and misunderstandings. I can relate to this, and love it! Alright enough on that diatribe, time for the story. Lover Reborn: Overall I loved it. However, the first half of the book was VERY slow, drawn out, and lacking a connection to the main protagonists. It wasn't until the halfway point that we really engaged Tohrment & No'One. While I love John Matthew and Xhex and understand why this couple was showcased in Tohrment's book, they stole the show. I wanted to read Tohr & No'One, I wanted less JM & Xhex. I guess my issue with the book is the disconnect- there were so many point of view change ups that I couldn't connect to anyone. I've already connected to those from past installments. Since No'one & Tohrment haven't graced the pages that often I didn't know them at all, and I'm still not sure I know them now. I love pov change ups, this was just too frequent and by too many characters. I actually felt the need to skim through the story to get back into the minds of Tohr and No'One. Every other aspect of the book was fantastic. I was thrilled to be back into the BDB universe. I am sadden that I have to wait another year for the next installment. The anticipation will be torturous since my favorite characters will be the main focus!! YAY! *happy dance* I would go farther into depth with my thoughts on this book, but I don't want to ruin the experience for my fellow readers.

I have read Persian translation of this book.
Gary Soto is awesome. And he's married to a Japanese-American woman. And they live in Berkeley. What else is there to love? Buried Onions chronicles the story of Eddie, a kid who lives on the poor end of Fresno, trying to make a straight life for himself in a gang-ridden community. This book really appeals to my male students, especially the Latino males, because it talks about a world that they feel a connection to. Although it seems to be a depressing story, there are hints that there is a better world out there.

Mockingbird is the story of Caitlin, a young girl who lost her mother a few years ago, and now tragically her brother was killed in an act of school violence. To complicate things further, Caitlin has Asperger's Syndrome, which makes it very hard for her to show emotion and understand social situations. This book was written from the point of view of Cailtin and her different understanding of the world. I read this book with great enthusiasm, hoping that I would be able to relate to it on a personal level, because my son was recently diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. I never did feel that connection with this book, and in fact I felt resentful after reading it. My first problem with this book was that it had too many unrealistic scenarios going on at the same time. Caitlin's mother passing away, her brother killed at school, Asperger's, and her father completely emotionally abandoning Caitlin was way too much drama for me. I think just the Asperger's would've been sufficient. Another thing I didn't like was the way the Asperger's was portrayed. I almost feel like the author read about the syndrome and used all of the worst case scenarios possible. Asperger's is very complex and it affects children in very different ways, and I could tell that the author had no personal experience with this syndrome. The reason that I gave it two stars is because I do applaud Erskine's effort in bringing awareness to an illness that is newer and not well known or understood. In the future, I would definitly like to see some books on Asperger's written by people who have experienced it first hand.

A novel of the plague. A great story about a village that quarantines itself during the plague. The protagonist is a woman who deals with loss, witch hunting, and herself. I really enjoyed it.

I learned how many things in the world, in this case animals, connect with human beings. I also learned how one can embrace different religion and appreciate their spiritual aspect
