Thankfully we voted for the smart one. This book chronicles the life of someone who is struggling to find an identity in a world that looks to label people. Very well written.

Without a doubt, Smith's work provides a penetrating critique of theism. It is hard to see how anyone could believe in God after reading this one. However, the author's politics - which he occasionally inserts into the text - are nothing to admire. He is a libertarian with sympathies for Ayn Rand. Nevertheless, I felt that the book's positives certainly outweighed its negatives, and I have found it to be an invaluable resource in strengthening my disbelief and in debating theists.
I never would have picked this up on my own even though I really admire Barak Obama - it was a selection by my book club. I am so glad I read this because Obama is a good writer and his life story is very interesting. Knowing this was written long before he became involved in politics makes it even more exceptional because I could get a real feeling for who Obama the man was before he became Obama the president.
I just didn't want to put this book down once I started and I couldn't seem to read it fast enough. There are some brutal parts and I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a younger teen.

I very much enjoyed this book. It was interesting to read about bipolar disorder through the eyes of someone who both has it and who studies and treats it.
Sweet & romantic. :)

It took me forever to finish this book, but I did enjoy it. Sometimes I felt like I was doing research again for the high school paper I did on the fair, but it was interesting to read all the details behind the fair and then the murders that occurred during that time period too.

Hanna seems to have a very strong personality. I have a hard time believing someone like that would rather turn their life upside down repeatedly, then go to prison for 20 years, rather than just fix the problem that leads to her "shameful secret". I know it's a pride thing, but when the entire book hangs on such a thin premise, it's hard to get into.
