This book is fantastic, with amazing, colorful characters!
WW2-Tho
Looking forward to this one.... I hear it is a great book where vampires are just as normal as human beings....where there are entire high schools set just for vampires alone. If anyone enjoyed Twilight, P.C Cast seems to be popular to follow. It's on my list for books to read, among many others.
This is a very original book. It's very graphic and real. The title hearkens to the night journey of the Prophet Muhammad in the Qur'an. I will never forget the female character's stuffed animals. This is one of the few books that really got in my head and kind of scared me. The Nation of Islam sub-plot is also intriguing.
Absolutely essential reading about World War II. Extent of Japanese atrocities may be mind-boggling to many, but it's important to know. (Also mind-boggling is that even today such atrocities still go on--the parallels to several more recent situations is powerful and troubling.)

This book is similar to the James Herriot stories. A young doctor comes to work with an older man.

I liked the history. You don't always think about what goes into the making of monument. Truly a love story for the ages. But I didn't always believe the woman's perspective - sometimes it was very obvious it was written by a man.
Sean Menon Z & D AP Studies September 10, 2012 Digital Fortress by Dan Brown The techno-thriller novel Digital Fortress by Dan Brown was a captivating read, full of characterization, I would recommend to anyone. Over the summer, I searched for a book that would keep me on the edge of my seat until the very end and Digital Fortress was no doubt the best choice. In the beginning, Dan Brown did an excellent job drawing the reader into the story and introducing the unique characters. Whether it was a prep or a hipster reading this book, both would easily have been able to connect with the people in the plot and feel drawn to the story. For example, one of the main characters, Susan Fletcher, was characterized as strong, beautiful, and devoted to this country. In contrast, another main character was Commander Strathmore, categorized as delusional, self serving, and conceited. In this book, there were a variety of different personalities and traits everyone could recount to. Next, the author did a remarkable job at distinguishing not only different characters as individuals but also developing ‘cliques’ of people, very similar to the social interactions in high school. I made this connection during the middle of the book when diverse communities of people only talked to each other and did not branch out to new people. In other words, during the digital information wars in the book Digital Fortress, countries would only talk to their allies and never muddle up with their enemies. When the NSA of the USA was unable to decode secret messages being sent from terrorists to other terrorists, the US did not confront the country itself but secretly assassinated anyone responsible leaving no doubt about who was in charge. The digital war may have been covert but the US intelligence carried out their plan and accomplished it: like a boss. Many high school readers would be able to connect with this aspect of the book, due to the multiple friend circles and I would definitely recommend this book to you no matter what kinds of people you prefer in your coterie! Overall, Digital Fortress by Dan Brown was well written (definitely in my league) book that everyone of every background could easily relate to and take pleasure in reading.

..not a book I normally would have picked up but I'm so glad I did. It is a rich, beautiful story about a mute boy and his family who raise and train dogs. The love, dedication and passion is palpable. After finishing it, I immediately went back and reread the first several chapters with a deeper insight and appreciation.

I think her books are so cute! I love the personalities that she gives the mice, and how they always outsmart whatever is trying to eat them. I like that I counts forwards and backwards, and I also love the constructions paper/ripped paper look for the illustrations.
