I've been reading and re-reading this book for a couple of years now. It is a wonderful resource for those who are starting out running or who have had trouble with injuries in the past. I'm both of those people. The book has made a world of difference in my training.

I bought this because it was on my recommendations on Amazon UK. It sounds really interesting and I really loved the cover so I was sold. Even though I did find it good I was slightly disapointed. The Secret Year is told from the main character, Colt's point of view. And it show him trying to deal with the grief of losing someone close to him. I'm not sure I really like Colt all that much. I just couldn't connect to him or any of the characters really. I know he is dealing with grief and I did feel very sorry for him. However, some of the things he did just made it very hard to like him. As Colt is greiving over Julia we get some insight to her. Honestly I didn't like her. I thought she was selfish for wanting two guys. Of course it was horrible what happen but it doesn't change anything for how I felt about her. The Premise of the story is a fantastic and I really wanted to love it. However, I just couldn't connected to the story or any of the characters for me to love it. I felt like I was always waiting for something exciting to happen and it doesn't. Saying that I did enjoy some of the story. I liked how we got to see Colts memorys of the year he spent with Julia. The Secret Year is Jennifer's debut novel. Its a very quick read and it is enjoyable. There is some moments that will having you laughing and some that will bring a tear to your eyes.

A little heavy on the architectural discriptors, although I appreciated the authors confidence that I [the reader:] could handle such material whether I had a structural backgound or not.

Well-written with lots of action and many unexpected twists and turns. I personally would have preferred more romance and a little less violence, but not every book can be The Hunger Games. See my full review @ http://yabookbeast.blogspot.com/2012/....

Excellent, thought provoking, one of the best history writers I have ever read. I have read several of his Ellis' books, and would recommend them to anyone interested in hisory.

I love this author (and was happy when I traded for this book and it was hardcover AND signed!) But the last 1 1/3 chapters spoils this from a 5 star to a 4 star. It's a great book about an Iranian art professor and his and his family's realationships with a gay couple in the US. As the Iraq war blossoms all changes. Good but the silly ending keeps it from being great.

Lots of big words
It was pretty good, up until about pg. 450 when all her old lovers came by (like a parade) so she could realize that she was over them and ready to get on with the rest of her life. A bad ending ruins many a good book. She should've quit while she was ahead, and made this book about 50 pages shorter. summary: promising start, let down finish.
