I could not get enough of this series when I was in younger. For a fifth grade boy, what is cooler than a series about an immortal mercenary killing & sexing his way through the centuries? Yeah, that's right, not much. Alright, for clarification, a fifth grade chunky nerd boy.

Good story. Interesting thoughts on the Trinity. Thought provoking conversations between the main character & God.

I think I will be "currently reading" this book forever. Sometimes, I'm just not ready to "Love What Is." What I mean by "sometimes" is: most of my adult life. Self-help continues to be a difficult genre for me. Not ready to face some issues.

Nature, independent women, and a little sex, can't really go wrong.
All I can say is WOW. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was a little slow at times and some of it was difficult to get through, but all in all, it was a great story about a very strong young woman. A book for all ages. Also one of my first 19th century british lit books!

When asked by a reporter if he had read this book about being a rookie guard in Sing Sing, the warden supposedly replied, "What do I care what some newjack thinks?"

I can't put this book down!
I love how he integrates the philosophy of both modernism and it's antithesis: Christianity across disciplines. However, I wish he was still around to write about current philosophical trends, for modernism as a thought, is old and rarely held anymore (on a true level) by the culture in which we live.
This is one of the books I've been able to read in its natural setting, which enhanced it greatly. I'll never forget sitting up late at night during a thunderstorm in Transylvania to finish it.

The title of this book isn't nearly as good as the other books I read by Kundera: the Unbearable Lightnes of Being, or (even better) the Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Still, I enjoyed it immensely. It's about two things: living under Communism and being manipulative, confused, miserable and unsatisfied. So, I guess it's about one thing. If possible, I recommend reading it while taking a train through Romania.
